The Krypder Riders were a band of pirates who, under the leadership of Hudso Shaku, were active on the planet of Dallenor during the latter part of the Galactic Republic's existence. Around 28 BBY, following the unearthing of a Jedi holocron during an archaeological dig on Dallenor, Shaku and his Krypder Riders attempted an act of theft. However, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who had been dispatched to investigate the artifact, successfully defended themselves against the Krypder Riders, preventing the pirates from acquiring the holocron.
The Krypder Riders were a piratical group that had its base of operations on the planet Dallenor, located in the Mid Rim. This gang was led by Hudso Shaku and included many members of the indigenous population of Dallenor, known as the Fosh. The pirates carried blades and often wore protective gear, particularly covering their chests and shoulders. Some members also sported eye protection or face coverings, along with fabric wrapped around their necks. Shaku himself rode atop a four-legged animal.
In the twilight years of the Galactic Republic, the Krypder Riders were a presence on Dallenor, where a group of outsiders had initiated an archaeological expedition. Initially, the pirates caused problems for the offworlders, but this changed when they realized that the excavated items, consisting of broken pieces of hundred-year-old automatons, held no value for them. However, the situation shifted dramatically with the discovery of an ancient Jedi artifact. The Krypder Riders returned to the excavation site for a second instance, prompting Clatriffe, the Togruta overseeing the dig, to post guards to deter the pirates.

Around 28 BBY, the Jedi Order dispatched Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his young Jedi-in-training, Anakin Skywalker, to Dallenor with the mission to recover the holocron. Upon encountering the two Jedi, Shaku aggressively asserted his claim to the archaeological finds and threatened the Jedi's lives. Kenobi responded by activating his lightsaber in self-defense, which led Shaku to order his followers to seize the energy weapon instead, viewing it as the more valuable prize.
As the pirates attacked Kenobi, he began neutralizing them. Shaku exploited the distraction to take Skywalker as a hostage, demanding the lightsaber in return for the young Jedi's safety. However, Skywalker employed the Force to levitate stones, causing Shaku to fall from behind. With Shaku incapacitated, Kenobi urged the remaining Krypder Riders to withdraw.
The Krypder Riders made their debut appearance in the comic book Age of Republic - Obi-Wan Kenobi 1, penned by Jody Houser, with illustrations by Cory Smith and Wilton Santos, and released by Marvel Comics on January 2nd, 2019. During a live chat on Twitch, Houser revealed that she had named the pirate group after two dogs, Krypto and Derby, belonging to her friends.
