LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a Star Wars video game constructed from LEGO bricks, brought to life by the developers at Traveller's Tales. This interactive experience retells the narratives of all nine films within the Skywalker saga, having been made available to players on April 5, 2022.
A departure from earlier LEGO Star Wars titles, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga grants players the freedom to tackle levels in any order they choose. The game now features a sprawling open-world hub, inviting players to thoroughly explore its environment. Adding to the dynamic experience, random events tied to the current timeline can occur within the hub, presenting players with the option to engage or ignore them. Each movie is divided into five distinct missions, culminating in a total of forty-five levels for players to conquer.
The initial announcement of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga took place during an interview with Matthew Wood at Celebration Chicago in 2019. The game's storyline has been significantly revised, and the levels have been rebuilt from the ground up, drawing inspiration from LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga and LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The May 7, 2020 edition of This Week! in Star Wars initially revealed a launch date of October 20, but the video was subsequently removed and re-uploaded without the release date. A fresh preview of the game was unveiled at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2021.
Originally slated for release in 2020, The Skywalker Saga experienced its first postponement in August of that year, pushing its launch to spring 2021. A year later, a new release window of spring 2022 was announced, with the precise date of April 5 being confirmed in January 2022. It saw release on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The game was available in both a standard format and a deluxe format. The deluxe version came with a unique Darth Vader slipcover, a "Character Collection bundle" (containing seven downloadable character packs), and a Luke Skywalker minifigure holding Blue Milk. The Character Collection bundle's seven DLC packs consist of The Mandalorian Pack 1, The Mandalorian Pack 2, a Rogue One: A Star Wars Story pack, a Classic Characters pack, a Solo: A Star Wars Story pack, a Star Wars: The Bad Batch pack, and a Trooper pack. The digital release has a classic Obi-Wan Kenobi character.
