Lessu City

Lessu City, often called simply Lessu, served as the capital city of the planet Ryloth. During the period known as the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems seized control of it; however, the Galactic Republic, with the aid of the Twi'lek Resistance, eventually liberated it.

Description

The urban center of Lessu City, frequently shortened to just Lessu, was constructed within a towering rock spire located centrally on a rocky mesa. The city was structured with several levels built into the face of the cliff, complete with exterior walls offering protection. During the era of the Clone Wars, access to the city was restricted to a plasma bridge installed by the occupying forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, allowing entry only on foot. This bridge remained functional even after the conclusion of the war and the rise of the Galactic Empire.

History

Lessu during the Clone Wars

During the Clone Wars conflict, Wat Tambor commanded the Separatist Droid Army as it gained dominion over Ryloth, taking the Twi'leks as prisoner. As Republic forces neared the capital, Tambor gave the order to force the city's residents outside its protective walls. This was a strategic move to complicate any potential assault, as he was aware the Jedi would try to prevent civilian harm. The Separatists put in place a plasma bridge, which could be activated or deactivated, as the only means of entering the city. The capital was later freed through the combined efforts of the freedom fighters and the Galactic Republic, led by Jedi Master Mace Windu and the rebel leader Cham Syndulla, supported by the aerial prowess of Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano's fighter squadron.

Following the establishment of the Galactic Empire, Senator Orn Free Taa, Vice Admiral Rampart, and the members of the Syndulla clan were present in Lessu. It was there that General Syndulla implored his people to relinquish their weapons to the Imperial Army. However, Syndulla's growing reservations about the Empire and its actions eventually led him to spearhead a new resistance movement known as the Free Ryloth Movement.

During the time of Imperial occupation, the Twi'lek named Isval made her way to the Octagon, a sector situated in the heart of Lessu. It was in this location that she met a Twi'lek escort called Ryiin and an intoxicated Imperial officer. After attacking the Imperial officer, she rescued Ryiin, providing her with a new sanctuary safe from slavery. Anti-Imperial figures like Beezer Fortuna were imprisoned in Lessu during the occupation. At one point, the Partisans launched a raid in Lessu, resulting in Fortuna's liberation.
