Lothal cliff dwelling

The Lothal cliff dwelling, situated in the southern part of the planet Lothal, functioned as a key operational center. It was utilized by both the Lothal resistance group and the Spectres during the early rebellion against the Galactic Empire around 1 BBY. Furthermore, prior to the Liberation of Lothal, a battle took place at the cliff dwelling between the rebels and the forces commanded by Imperial Governor Arihnda Pryce.

Description

This Lothal cliff dwelling was located in the southern hemisphere of the planet Lothal. This dwelling was made up of a series of caves seemingly constructed by Lothal's ancient inhabitants. These caves featured paintings depicting people and Loth-wolves. The figures in the paintings were shown arriving from space and seemed to be Jedi.

History

Around 1 BBY, while on the run from an Imperial assassin, the rebels Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, Kanan Jarrus, and Ryder Azadi were guided there by three wolves from a cave located in the northern part of the planet. The structure reminded both Ezra Bridger and Jarrus, who were Jedi, of the Lothal Jedi Temple. Following this discovery, the Lothal resistance group made the decision to establish their base within the dwelling. After General Hera Syndulla's failed attack targeting the Imperial Armory Complex, the Spectres and the Lothal resistance retreated back to their base. Under Ezra's leadership, the Spectres constructed three Loth-bat gliders, which they then used to infiltrate the Imperial Complex located in Capital City. After Kanan's death, Hera grieved for her fallen lover within the cliff dwelling's caves. Ryder, Mart Mattin, and Jai Kell also were present when a propaganda broadcast by Alton Kastle aired, claiming the Lothal rebellion was hopeless. However, Sabine and Garazeb Orrelios subsequently found out that the destruction of the Lothal City fuel depot had caused damage to the Imperial Armory Complex.

Following a discussion of their strategy, the Spectres left the cliff dwelling to embark on a mission aimed at rescuing the Lothal Jedi Temple. Later, the Lothal cliff dwelling became the site of a minor conflict between the Lothal rebels and the forces under the command of Governor Arihnda Pryce. However, this was a ploy by Ezra and Ryder to lure Governor Pryce into a trap, part of their larger plan to remove the Galactic Empire from Capital City. Despite suffering considerable losses, Pryce's forces were defeated with the help of reinforcements led by Hera and a pack of loth-wolves. As a result, the rebels were able to capture Pryce along with a number of stormtroopers.

Following Pryce's capture, the rebels departed aboard two captured patrol transports with the goal of infiltrating the Imperial Complex within Capital City. The Noghri assassin Rukh hijacked a third patrol transport and managed to inform Grand Admiral Thrawn about the rebels' scheme to take over the Imperial Complex. In response, Wolffe, Mart, and Cikatro Vizago departed on the Ghost on a clandestine mission to contact a group of purrgil as part of Ezra's contingency plan.
