Mission to Bracca

Following the events of the Battle of Crait, Dross Squadron was tasked with a Bracca operation to secure additional vessels for the Resistance.

Beginning

The Battle of Crait had dealt a significant blow to the Resistance. In response, General Leia Organa assembled her remaining forces at the Ryloth Defense Authority base on Ryloth, with permission granted by her longtime acquaintance Yendor. Her objective was to amass as many starships as possible to combat the First Order, a military force that had emerged from the remnants of the Galactic Empire. Initially, she gave Poe Dameron, the leader and pilot of Black Squadron, the assignment of going to Corellia to commandeer some First Order ships. Recognizing the necessity of bolstering their ranks with sympathizers, she then directed Wedge Antilles to lead a team to break out Ransolm Casterfo, a former New Republic senator, from the Santhe Shipyards. Finally, she gave Shriv Suurgav and Dross Squadron orders to proceed to Bracca, the location of the Scrapper Guild, and acquire as many ships as they could. The First Order was sending ships there to be decommissioned and scrapped. And so, the Bracca mission was initiated.

En route via hyperspace

During their hyperspace travel, the atmosphere was extremely tense. Shriv observed that Zay, his niece, had been frequently rolling her eyes, possibly due to adolescence. On their way to Bracca, Shriv briefed the team about the mission and informed Wesson Dove and her wife, Raidah Doon, that their role would be as Hazmats to infiltrate the facility and steal ships. During the journey, Shriv also noticed Pacer's unusual behavior. After reprimanding him, he dismissed the young pilot as a "space baby," which upset Zay, given her space-borne origins. However, Shriv reassured her that her parents would be proud of her dedication to the Resistance.

The operation

The start of the adventure

Upon exiting hyperspace, Shriv re-briefed the team, providing assignments to everyone, designating some as Riggers and others as Hazmats. Pacer then shared information from his sister about the location, mentioning the Ibdis Maw and her willingness to assist, driven by her hatred for the First Order. With the plans finalized, the Bracca mission officially commenced.

Arrival on Bracca

The team was instructed to land on a lengthy, narrow platform. Despite the dim and foggy conditions, Shriv observed ships landing and awaiting takeoff clearance.

After landing their ship, Zay prepared to disembark, but Shriv instructed her to remain onboard, much to her annoyance and disappointment, as she felt ready for action. Her uncle explained that he wanted her to be their final line of defense because he trusted her the most and he wanted her to continue to fight hard for the Resistance. Zay conceded, and Shriv, along with the rest of the team, departed.

Implementing the strategy

After retrieving the jumpsuits that Pacer's sister had hidden for them under a pile of refuse in a maintenance corridor a few blocks from the train station, Shriv and his team boarded the transport train, prepared for their mission. As the train entered a station and stopped, Shriv caught sight of the Ibdis Maw, an image he regretted seeing. The Duros could not discern whether the separate mouths were distinct entities or multiple mouths belonging to a single continent-sized creature. Suddenly, a squad of stormtroopers entered. Although tense and tempted to shoot them out of fear, Shriv maintained composure. Despite the averted danger, he sensed Agoyo's tension and readiness to fire, prompting him to wonder about the young man's intense animosity towards the First Order. Shriv anticipated their imminent exit, but his tension increased as six more stormtroopers boarded at the stop before theirs. Eventually, the situation de-escalated, and Pacer explained that his tension stemmed from the First Order's destruction of his hometown. Following encouragement from Shriv and an apology for the earlier rebuke on the ship, the team disembarked the transport train without incident. However, their peace was short-lived. A group of stormtroopers intercepted them, recognizing Raidah as a known criminal from Gheia Six. Initially, they intended only to detain Raidah for questioning, but an officer ordered the entire Dross Squadron to be taken in for questioning. Realizing they couldn't allow themselves to be captured, Wesson threw a knife at the officer, killing him, and a firefight erupted between the two groups.

Outcome

Although Stronghammer was killed, Dross Squadron managed to seize multiple starfighters. Due to the leaked exposure of the Resistance presence on Ryloth to the First Order, Shriv's group, the Corellia teams, and Organa, along with the others stationed on Ryloth, reconvened at a location provided by the Collective.
