In the year 9 BBY, Cal Kestis, a Jedi Knight, embarked on a quest. This quest took him to the Forest Array on Koboh, a planet situated in the Outer Rim. His objective was to locate the key to Tanalorr, a world concealed within the Koboh Abyss. ZN-A4, a droid originating from the High Republic Era, dispatched Kestis on this mission. ZN-A4 had been assigned the task of discovering the key to Tanalorr at the Forest Array by Santari Khri, a Jedi Master, many years ago. Upon entering the array, Kestis found a bacta tank. After experiencing a vision through psychometry upon touching it, Kestis released Dagan Gera, a Jedi Knight from the High Republic Era and the key to Tanalorr, from his imprisonment. However, Gera had succumbed to the dark side of the Force, and after bleeding the kyber crystal of his lightsaber's, he dueled Kestis. Gera successfully fled with assistance from Rayvis, the leader of the Bedlam Raiders, who had been in Gera's debt since the High Republic Era.
