Moldour 14

Moldour was circled by Moldour 14, a moon located in the Outer Rim Territories. Maz Kanata, the Pirate Queen, once concealed a treasure vault on an island found on this moon. Gunda Mabin, a pirate captain, discovered the vault's location in the Smuggler's Guide, Kanata's logbook, sometime between 19 BBY and 10 BBY. She then journeyed there with her starship crew aboard the Bloody Bones. Upon locating the sinkhole that contained the treasure vault, the pirates deployed droids to excavate the entrance. After overcoming the vault's defenses, the pirates plundered the treasure, and Mabin documented their visit to Moldour 14 in the Smuggler's Guide.

Description

One of the moons in orbit around Moldour within both the Outer Rim Territories and the Slice was Moldour 14. When viewed from space, this terrestrial moon exhibited a predominantly blue surface dotted with several islands. At least one island contained numerous sinkholes, including one situated in a sandy region.

History

Gunda Mabin oversees a droid digging up the treasure vault on Moldour 14.

The Pirate Queen known as Maz Kanata once hid a treasure vault at the base of a sinkhole on one of Moldour 14's islands. This vault held valuable items such as prismatic crystals, corusca gems, meleenium ore, and hyperbaride minerals. Later, she included directions to this vault in her logbook, which became known as the Smuggler's Guide. Between 19 BBY and 10 BBY, Gunda Mabin, an Aqualish captain leading the Blazing Claw pirate fleet, obtained this book. Consequently, she commanded her starship, the Bloody Bones, to travel to Moldour 14 to recover the hidden treasure. Puckwale, Mabin's navigator, announced that they would arrive at the moon by the following morning, and the pirate crew reached their destination within two sidereal cycles.

Once on Moldour 14, the pirate Poppy successfully identified the island and the sinkhole that concealed Kanata's treasure vault. Following this, Mabin herself went to the site and ordered her ship's droid workforce to unearth the entrance to the structure. Subsequently, Fur-Bite, a member of Mabin's crew, broke the vault's seal, but perishing after triggering a saberdart trap. The remaining traps failed to activate, allowing Mabin's crew to proceed with looting the vault. They loaded the treasure onto the Bloody Bones and departed from Moldour. Mabin later documented their expedition to Moldour 14 in an entry she added to the Smuggler's Guide, which also included an image of the moon. Sometime between 0 ABY and 5 ABY, the Smuggler's Guide came into the possession of Prima Wessex, an information broker working for the Whisper Network. Wessex then added a note suggesting that the organization should dispatch trained investigators to assess the condition of valuable treasure vaults, including the one located on Moldour 14.

Behind the scenes

Daniel Wallace mentioned Moldour 14 in his 2018 reference book, Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide. Adrián Rodriguez provided an illustration of the moon within the book.
