Myriapodologist

Kouhun-hd The kouhuns (shown in the image) utilized during an attempted assassination of Senator Padmé Amidala were identified by myriapodologists working at the Coruscant Zoo. A myriapodologist was a specialist whose area of expertise involved the study of specific arthropods; the name of their profession was the same as a type of creature called a myriapod. In the year 22 BBY, myriapodologists hailing from the Coruscant Zoo participated in an investigation conducted by the Coruscant Security Force (CSF) concerning an assassination attempt targeting Galactic Republic Senator Padmé Amidala on the Core Worlds planet of Coruscant. Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Padawan serving as Amidala's bodyguard, used his lightsaber to bisect a pair of kouhuns, which are venomous arthropods originating from the Wild Space planet Indoumodo. These creatures had been surreptitiously introduced into Amidala's apartment. The myriapodologists were then able to identify the arthropods from what remained of them. The severed kouhuns were preserved as evidence inside a canister, and their venom sacs were extracted with the aim of developing an antivenom. In the year 34 ABY, details from the CSF file pertaining to the case, specifically mentioning the involvement of the myriapodologists, were published in the book titled Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, which was authored by New Republic Police Commissioner Exantor Divo.

Behind the scenes

The reference book Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, written by Pablo Hidalgo, mentioned myriapodologists in 2018. In reality, myriapodology is the field practiced by myriapodologists, which involves the study of myriapods—a group of arthropods that includes creatures such as centipedes and millipedes.
