North-3

An individual human who used the callsign North-3 was a member of the Corporate Tactical Forces within Preox-Morlana. North-3 was involved in a mission during the Galactic Empire's era that aimed to capture Cassian Andor.

Biography

Preparing for a fight

During the Galactic Empire era, this male human served as a corpo within the Corporate Tactical Forces of Pre-Mor Enforcement, the security force of the Preox-Morlana polity. In 5 BBY, the deaths of two Pre-Mor sentry guards, who were killed after they harassed Cassian Andor, prompted Deputy Inspector Syril Karn to launch an investigation. After Karn identified Andor and located him on the planet Ferrix, he put together a strike team, headed by Sergeant Linus Mosk, to apprehend Andor. The human was selected for this team and given the callsign "North-3," as part of North Team.

The strike team, which was split into North Team, East Team, and West Team, traveled to Ferrix aboard a personnel carrier. En route, Mosk briefed the teams about Andor, assigning North and East Teams to position themselves for a pincer movement in case Andor attempted to escape. Karn and the sergeant would lead West Team to directly arrest Andor. North-3 was positioned behind the other corpos at that point, with a blaster rifle slung over his shoulder. Mosk entertained the group with comments about the residents of Ferrix, after which Karn delivered a brief speech before dismissing them.

Plan gone awry

Upon arriving on Ferrix, the three teams deployed using Mobile Tac-Pods, with North Team's transport landing in a salvage yard. North-3 followed his three teammates as they exited the Tac-Pod to reach their assigned location. As the teams tracked Andor's position within the city, the locals began to sound an alarm, and the salvager Brasso chained North Team's Tac-Pod to a large piece of scrap metal. Meanwhile, North Team proceeded through the city's North Stairs Lane and encountered the mechanic Bix Caleen, who immediately ran away from them. The team then apprehended Caleen.

While North Team waited in an alleyway with their captive, East Team engaged Andor in a building, while West Team made their way to join the fight. After Caleen was restrained, her lover, Timm Karlo, arrived and attempted to intervene. Despite orders from team leader "North-1" to stop, Karlo charged forward, causing North-3 to shoot him. The shot struck Caleen's lover in the chest, resulting in his immediate death. North-3 appeared shocked by his actions and removed his hat. North-1 then requested North-3's rifle and took it from him, questioning his judgment. North-3 was then instructed by his superior to return to their team's Tac-Pod and prepare it for takeoff with the radio activated.

North-3 ran back to the pod and began to fly it. However, the piece of scrap metal attached to the transport caused the corpo to struggle to control the Tac-Pod. As North-3 continued to fly the pod, the scrap metal became anchored in some large machinery. This caused the Tac-Pod to crash into a structure, resulting in North-3's death. The explosion led Mosk to wonder if his group was being flanked by enemies. Ultimately, the other corpos were unsuccessful in capturing Andor, and the deaths of North-3, three other corpos, and Karlo contributed to the Empire's Imperial Security Bureau taking notice of the incident and removing Pre-Mor enforcement's authority.

Personality and traits

North-3 demonstrated a lack of discipline, evident in his premature shooting of Timm Karlo. He also reacted with anger and indignation when his commanding officer, North-1, relieved him of his assignment. Upon returning to the team's Tac-Pod, he remained visibly upset and failed to notice the large piece of scrap metal attached to the Tac-Pod with a heavy cable.

Equipment

Like other ground troops in the Corporate Tactical Forces, North-3 wore a gray-blue jumpsuit with an orange-brimmed cap, blue boots and gloves, and a similarly-colored light armored vest with spaulders. He, along with North-1, carried a blaster rifle that resembled a carbine version of the SE-14C blaster pistol.

Behind the scenes

North-3 made his debut in the second episode of the live-action Disney+ series Andor, which was directed by Toby Haynes and released on September 21, 2022. Richard Henderson played the character.
