These beings populated the planet of Krystar around the time that the Clone Wars were occurring. One notable Ovissian, Boolio, served as a mine overseer located on the Sinta Glacier ice asteroid and secretly aided the Resistance during their conflict, or war, with the First Order.
This sentient species, the Ovissians, possessed a bipedal physique and a rounded facial structure. Their skin exhibited hues of either green or orange. Their blood was characterized by a high copper content. Their eye color varied from brown to black. Some Ovissians also possessed hair, including facial hair, in shades such as black or red.
A defining feature of Ovissians was the two pairs of horns adorning their heads. The larger pair extended from the sides of their heads, while the smaller horns protruded from their mandibles. Individuals of this species could attain heights of at least 1.78 meters.
The Ovissian community inhabiting the planet Krystar was under the leadership of a regent, who governed from within a palace. Ovissians demonstrated the ability to communicate using Galactic Basic Standard.
During the Clone Wars era, specifically in 22 BBY, a population of Ovissians lived on Krystar, with their leader being the Ovissian regent Queb. Vishar Koss represented them in the Galactic Republic. Secretly, Queb collaborated with the Confederacy of Independent Systems, holding Republic clone troopers as prisoner on Krystar and selling them to a Trandoshan hunter. After Koss discovered the location where Queb was holding the troopers, she contacted her associate Senator Padmé Amidala, which led to a Republic mission that resulted in the rescue of the clones and the capture of Queb.
Around 28 ABY, an Ovissian was present inside a cantina found on the Mid Rim astronomical object Varnak. It was there that Ben Solo, formerly Jedi Padawan under Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, encountered "Ren," who was the leader of the dark side group known as the Knights of Ren.
An Ovissian held the position of headmaster at a school located on the desert planet of Merokia. This headmaster had disagreements with a student, Karr Nuq Sin, as he believed that his Force visions were just headaches.
The Ovissian named Boolio, originally from the astronomical object Sinta IV, worked as a mine overseer on the Sinta Glacier, a large ice asteroid that orbited the same star. By the year 35 ABY, Boolio had secretly become an ally of the Resistance. He was covertly providing the group with extra supplies. After receiving an anonymous message from a officer within the First Order, Boolio contacted the Resistance, which initiated a mission to acquire the information. However, the First Order discovered Boolio's actions and had the Ovissian executed.
The Ovissians were initially conceived for the 2019 film titled Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, but their debut appearance occurred earlier in the novel Force Collector, authored by Kevin Shinick.
