Within the Mid Rim on the Bulk freighter known as the Romary, Poe Dameron alongside Black Squadron are attempting to carefully steer the tanker through an asteroid field, maintaining their speed to prevent the tanker's self-destruction. When the shields fail, Karé Kun skillfully destroys two asteroids just before impact. They successfully navigate the field, but Black Squadron's X-wing starfighters are critically low on fuel. BB-8 informs Poe that he has detected the First Order's presence, noting traces of Rhydonium in the stolen fuel and their failure to initiate a hyperspace jump. Jessika Pava infers that a hyperspace ring must be in close proximity due to their inability to jump to hyperspace.
On the Enshado, the Lieutenant informs Commander Malarus that the tanker is preparing to dock with the hyperspace ring. Malarus praises Terex's usefulness and increased obedience, attributing it to his cybernetic enhancements. A First Order Major interrupts to report the Romary's approach. Poe establishes communication with the First Order cruiser, demanding the fuel's surrender. Malarus orders the launch of TIE/fo space superiority fighters with instructions to destroy the tanker before it nears the Enshado.
Black Squadron manages to replenish their X-wing fuel reserves by extracting fuel from the Romary, while Pava's astromech droid, Kaythree, pilots the light freighter.
