Rolund Tremaine, existing in the era following the Second Galactic Civil War, was a male Human Mind Walker. He and his sister, Rhondi, were born on a colony located within the Maw, later becoming spies for the Maw Irregular Fleet, which was an armada established by Admiral Natasi Daala.
When Centerpoint Station met its destruction in 41 ABY during the Second Galactic Civil War, Rolund and Rhondi experienced a compelling pull through the Force, drawing them back toward the Maw. Answering this call, they arrived at Sinkhole Station, a space station visually reminiscent of Centerpoint. This station served as the home for the Mind Walkers, Force-sensitive individuals capable of detaching their minds from their bodies entirely, allowing them to enter a dimension known as beyond shadows.
In 43.5 ABY, Luke Skywalker, the exiled Jedi Grand Master, and his son Ben made their way to the station while investigating the reasons behind Jacen Solo's descent to the dark side. While Luke journeyed beyond shadows, Rolund and his sister remained with Ben. Ben became convinced that Rolund and the other Mind Walkers were attempting to murder him after discovering that they were tampering with Luke's hydration tube. To ensure his father's safety, Ben confined Rolund within a room, placing a detonator on the door. He then insisted that Rhondi guide him beyond shadows to reach Luke. Fearing for her brother's well-being, Rhondi conceded to his demands.
While the Skywalkers were beyond shadows, a Sith strike team originating from Kesh infiltrated Sinkhole Station, intending to assassinate the two Skywalkers. Luke, Ben, and Rhondi returned from beyond shadows, but before Ben could release Rolund, the invading Sith inadvertently triggered the detonator that Ben had previously set on the door of Rolund's confinement.
Rolund Tremaine was born on a colony within the Maw, a colony that was established by Admiral Natasi Daala. At a young age, Tremaine, along with his sister Rhondi, were prohibited from military service because they were Force-sensitive. Instead, the siblings were employed as spies for the colony. The Tremaines were tasked with a variety of assignments, including gathering intel and stealing ships for the Maw Irregular Fleet, which was an armada created by Daala. The colony thrived due to the success of Tremaine and the other espionage personnel.
The Tremaines served Daala for a decade, until the middle of the Second Galactic Civil War. After Centerpoint Station was destroyed in 40 ABY, the Tremaines and other Force-sensitives within the Irregular Fleet began to feel a strong urge to return to the Maw. The Tremaine siblings requested to leave the fleet, but when their request was denied, they began to grow paranoid. Their paranoia escalated to the point where they believed the entire war was a conspiracy to expose them. Many of the fleet's Force-sensitives, including the Tremaines, began to desert en masse, stealing ships to reach their destination. Rolund and his sister were drawn to Sinkhole Station, a small space station that resembled Centerpoint and was home to a group of Force-sensitives known as the Mind Walkers. The Tremaines joined the Mind Walkers and learned how to separate their minds from their physical bodies to enter a realm of the Force called beyond shadows.
Two years after joining the Mind Walkers, Rolund encountered Luke Skywalker, the exiled Jedi Grand Master, and his son, Ben. They arrived at Sinkhole Station while trying to understand why Jacen Solo had fallen to the dark side of the Force. Alongside Seek Ryontarr and Feryl, the Tremaines were the first Mind Walkers to speak with the Skywalkers. Ryontarr and Feryl agreed to take Luke beyond shadows, and while Luke was there, Tremaine and his sister often visited Ben on the Skywalkers' ship, the Jade Shadow. The siblings took food from the Shadow's supplies, hoping to starve Ben and force him to go beyond shadows.
During one of their visits, Ben mentioned that Luke's hydration tube kept falling out of his mouth. However, the Tremaines knew that one of the Mind Walkers was actually removing it. Realizing this, Ben demanded an explanation, and Rhondi explained that Luke didn't need food while beyond shadows because the Force would sustain him. This led Ben to believe that the Mind Walkers were trying to kill him and his father. He locked Rolund in a room on the station's exterior and placed a detonator on the door. He decided he needed to go beyond shadows to bring his father back, but he feared the Tremaines would let him die while he was there, as there was no accurate way to track time in that realm. To solve this, Ben locked Rolund in a room on the station's exterior and placed a detonator on the door. He then demanded that Rhondi take him beyond shadows, shackling her to the floor with stun cuffs to prevent her from saving her brother if he died beyond shadows. Fearing for Rolund's life, Rhondi agreed.
After Rhondi and the Skywalkers returned from beyond shadows, a Sith strike team from the Lost Tribe of Sith on Kesh boarded the space station, intending to kill the two Skywalkers. While the Skywalkers spoke with Rhondi, the invading Sith accidentally detonated the device on the room where Rolund was held.
Rolund Tremaine was a character created by Troy Denning for Fate of the Jedi: Abyss, which is the third novel in the nine-part Fate of the Jedi series.
