Safari droid

Safari droids, designed for surveying wildlife throughout the galaxy, were droids produced by Serv-O-Droid, Inc.. The Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts commissioned these droids, which were programmed to relay their discoveries about various creatures back to the Society and dispatched on particularly hazardous expeditions. SF-R3, a Safari droid, embarked on numerous escapades across the galaxy.

Characteristics

The plating of Safari droids was yellow and white, and they had pink sensors. To aid them in their adventures, Safari droids were outfitted with a variety of tools. They were equipped with rocket boosters, rotating brushes, and music players. Demolition mode and low energy mode were also available to Safari droids. They possessed a chest compartment for storing items. They were capable of piloting ships, speaking Galactic Basic Standard, and operating speeder bikes. Safari droids could move at a faster pace than voorpaks.

History

The Galactic Society of Creature Enthusiasts commissioned Serv-O-Droid, Inc. to manufacture Safari droids sometime prior to 232 BBY, so they could undertake more perilous missions. SF-R3, a Safari droid, documented his adventures with the assistance of CAM, his cam droid, by or after that year. M1-RE, another Safari droid, was a specialized Society member. She was stationed at the Youngling Care Space Station, where she looked after and researched various species of younglings. She befriended SF-R3, who requested she demonstrate to Holonet viewers how to care for their younglings.

Behind the scenes

The initial appearance of Safari droids occurred in the first two episodes of Star Wars Galaxy of Creatures, entitled "Bantha" and "Porgs," which were launched on October 14, 2021. The series' accompanying activity sheet provided the name Safari droids. The team initially considered using a pit droid as the main character when the choice was made to feature a droid. However, Matt Martin disapproved of using a droid designed for a specific purpose for another task. Consequently, the safari droid was created as a substitute, while maintaining characteristics comparable to those of a pit droid.
