Spira, situated in the Galactic Core, was a planet renowned for its tropical climate and shimmering golden beaches.
This tropical planet, known as Spira, was located within the Galactic Core. The presence of golden beaches made it a popular destination for vacations and the construction of luxurious mansions. During the Imperial Era, Spira was the site of a biannual antiques auction that typically featured a range of unique and valuable items.

During the era of the High Republic, Spira held an important position within the Galactic Republic, and was granted a sky-island at the Republic Fair on Valo. In 3 ABY, an announcement was broadcasted across the casino cruiser Morenia, revealing that Ayadra Ogo had won an all-expenses-paid trip to Spira's golden beaches. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, Amilyn Holdo, a Rebel Alliance agent, arranged with her friend, who owned a mansion on Spira, to allow her, Leia Organa, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, Lobot, and Luke Skywalker to stay at the residence. Later, the group attended an auction on the planet, where they sought to acquire a Nihil strikeship in order to obtain its Path engine for the Rebellion. After failing to win the auction, they proceeded to steal the Path engine from the winning bidder, the curator of the Galactic Museum located on the Imperial capital planet of Coruscant. Subsequently, they were attacked by Imperial TIE fighters, which destroyed the mansion and pursued the group in Holdo's ship, the Skyfarer. As they attempted to escape Spira's atmosphere and jump to hyperspace, the Path engine unexpectedly activated, causing the ship to jump before it had fully exited the atmosphere, sending it into No-Space. On a separate occasion, Poe Dameron, a Resistance pilot, had vacationed on Spira, and was reminded of his time there when tasting a drink at an auction hosted by Nifera Shu on Corellia.
The first mention of Spira occurred within the theme park attraction known as Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. Its initial creation was for the 1994 Star Wars Legends roleplaying adventure titled The Spira Regatta.
An early version of the novel The High Republic: Light of the Jedi identified Spira as the homeworld of the saberfish. However, the final published version of the novel instead identified Tibrin as their origin.
