Stormseed

Stormseeds represented a type of weapon. Their function was to annihilate starships that were in transit via hyperspace. This destruction occurred when the ships arrived in the realspace zone where the devices had been activated and set up. The process involved forcibly extracting vessels from hyperspace in a violent manner. Marchion Ro placed the order for these devices to be made. They were for the benefit of the marauders known as the Nihil, a group he commanded as their leader, referred to as the 'Eye'. The development of these weapons was assisted by individuals whom Ro described as "noble martyrs," such as scientist Chancey Yarrow and her Gravity's Heart initiative. This project employed a Gravity well projector to create disturbances in hyperspace, sufficient to pull starships out of it, effectively acting as a prototype for the stormseed.

In the year 230 BBY, Ro put his stormseeds into action within the Outer Rim Territories, the operational area of the Nihil. This resulted in the destruction of the Republic Defense Coalition Outreach Fleet, which was en route to the Outer Rim to provide protection against the Nihil. Ro successfully used the stormseeds to isolate ten complete sectors within the Outer Rim. Ro's objective in doing so was to establish an autonomous territory where everyone would be a Nihil member, beyond the reach of both the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order. Ro's family had dedicated numerous generations to pursuing this ambition. However, it was only through Ro's creation and deployment of the stormseeds that this vision began to materialize. During this period, Ro delivered a speech to a gathering of Nihil within the Great Hall of the Nihil located in No-Space. In his address, he unveiled the stormseeds and boasted about the immense power they would grant the Nihil. He also emphasized how these devices would prevent any intervention from the Republic and Jedi within the Outer Rim territories, which the Nihil were actively terrorizing and plundering. Following the activation of the stormseeds, Norel Quo, who was the aide to the Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh, contacted the renowned San Tekka clan, a family of hyperspace Prospectors. This outreach was conducted on behalf of the Office of the Supreme Chancellor, with the aim of understanding how the Outer Rim had been sealed off. The San Tekkas dispatched technician Keven Tarr to assist in the investigation.
