A gunnery officer, a male human, was a member of Moff Gideon's Galactic Empire remnant. He operated on Gideon's light cruiser. Around 9 ABY on the planet Tython, the cruiser obliterated the Razor Crest gunship. The gunnery officer then communicated the direct hit to Gideon. Later, he accompanied Elia Kane to inform Gideon about a message from Din Djarin, the Mandalorian. When Djarin's allies boarded the cruiser, Gideon instructed the gunnery officer to activate the dark troopers.
The gunnery officer held the rank of lieutenant within Moff Gideon's Galactic Empire remnant during the New Republic's reign. He served on Gideon's light cruiser circa 9 ABY, specifically at the bridge of the cruiser during its journey to Tython planet while tracking the Razor Crest gunship. Following the pursuit of Grogu, the Force-sensitive infant, by Gideon's ground forces, the light cruiser fired upon and destroyed the Razor Crest starship. From the cruiser's bridge, the gunnery officer verified the direct hit on the Crest to Gideon, prompting the moff to deploy some dark troopers to capture the infant.

After the successful capture of Grogu by the dark troopers, the cruiser promptly entered hyperspace. Later, the gunnery officer accompanied Elia Kane to the bridge to inform Gideon about a message from Din Djarin, the Mandalorian, who sought to reclaim Grogu from Gideon. They stood by a table displaying the holographic message from the Mandalorian. Subsequently, an Imperial Lambda-class T-4a shuttle designated Shuttle 2743 emerged from hyperspace near Gideon's cruiser, pursued by the Slave I, a Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft. The shuttle was forced to dock with the cruiser, and the Slave I jumped to hyperspace. An infiltration team of Djarin's allies then disembarked from the shuttle and attacked the personnel in the hanger.
The bridge crew heard the conflict over the comms, and Gideon commanded the activation of the dark troopers. The gunnery officer performed this task, utilizing one of his code cylinders to access his terminal and activate the troopers. Gideon then left the bridge, and Djarin's allies soon breached the bridge. The infiltrators then massacred the stormtroopers and officers defending the bridge.
The gunnery officer wore the standard Imperial naval officer's uniform, including an Imperial kepi and two code cylinders attached below each shoulder. He used one of these cylinders to access his terminal. He wore a rank insignia plaque on his left breast featuring two red bars above two blue bars, indicating his rank of lieutenant.
The officer's initial appearance was in "Chapter 14: The Tragedy" of The Mandalorian, a Disney+ television series from 2019 by Jon Favreau. The episode was directed by Robert Rodriguez and released on December 4, 2020. Gabriel Ebert portrayed the character, credited as "Gunnery Officer".
