Unidentified Stormtrooper Commander (The Pit)

A member of the human species, in service to the Galactic Empire, functioned as a Stormtrooper Commander during the Imperial Era. Sometime during the Empire's rule, this officer spearheaded an Imperial stormtrooper detachment on a mission to a specific planet, driven by the objective of locating kyber crystals.

The commander instructed the Empire's captives to commence excavation for the crystals. These captives dug a deep hole, progressively uncovering more crystals. Once the prisoners reached the base of the excavation and secured the final crystal, the commander, pleased with his crystal acquisition, commanded the detachment to depart with their obtained resources.

At a later point, the commander, along with the detachment, made a return to the planet. This return was prompted by information indicating that the inhabitants of the newly established Crystal City had become aware of the excavation site and the individuals trapped within. He warned the inhabitants to go back to the city, threatening them with gunfire. The people, ignoring his warning, surged forward, breaking through the stormtrooper blockade. Overwhelmed, the commander gave the order for the stormtroopers under his authority to withdraw and retreat.

Biography

Slaves of the Empire

A human was a Stormtrooper Commander within the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps during the Imperial Era. The commander was in charge of a garrison deployed to a planet, based on the suspicion of finding kyber crystals. Upon arrival on the planet, the commander led a line of chained Imperial prisoners who were carrying pickaxes through the barren plain's blowing sand. He carefully monitored his datapad, observing the appearing signals. Eventually, he signaled for the prisoners to halt. He activated a button on his wrist armor, releasing the prisoners from their stuncuffs. Subsequently, he instructed the prisoners to start digging, which they did.

Later on, another transport delivered additional prisoners to continue the excavation. After they descended into what had become a pit, the commander again freed them from their restraints, allowing them to join the others in the crystal search. He noticed a prisoner who wasn't following his digging orders and pressed another button on his wrist armor, resulting in the prisoner being shocked by their cuffs.

The crystals

The prisoners continued digging throughout the evening until a young woman hit something with her pickaxe: a kyber crystal. The commander deployed a small probe droid to take the crystal from the woman. The droid retrieved the crystal and returned to the surface, handing it over to the commander. The commander examined the crystal briefly before ordering the prisoners to resume digging.

As time passed, the prisoners dug deeper, discovering more crystals for the commander. This crystal trafficking led to the formation of a city known as Crystal City. The commander's operations expanded, with hundreds of crystals being mined by the prisoners. Eventually, a man reached the bottom of the deep pit, hitting bedrock. The commander, looking through his Macrobinoculars into the seemingly bottomless pit, realized the crystal supply was exhausted. He ordered his men to withdraw with their earnings. Before leaving, he activated another button on his wrist, deactivating the prisoners' cuffs. As the people celebrated, the stormtroopers departed in their transports, abandoning the people and trapping them in the pit.

Discovery

A young man named Crux was determined to escape and rescue the others trapped at the bottom of the pit. He successfully climbed to the top edge of the pit, announcing to the others that he would seek help. Crux went to the city, where he began informing the people about the pit and the prisoners abandoned by the Empire. Two stormtroopers overheard this and seized the boy, dragging him back to the pit and throwing him back in, killing him.

The commander exiting his transport

The prisoners in the pit hadn't given up, calling out to the people of the city, who heard their cries and began marching towards the pit. As the citizens approached the pit, the two stormtroopers requested backup, which the commander provided. A troop transport carrying the commander landed in front of the pit, attempting to block the citizens' advance. The commander emerged behind the squad of stormtroopers now guarding the pit. The people demanded answers, to which the commander responded by warning the crowd that if they didn't leave, the stormtroopers would open fire. The citizens continued to advance on the commander, pushing past the stormtroopers. The stormtroopers turned to the commander for instructions. Reluctantly and defeated, the commander ordered the troops under his command to evacuate the area.

The people surrounded the pit, and the prisoners looked up at them, realizing they had been rescued. The citizens of Crystal City lowered multiple transports into the pit, rescuing the prisoners.

Personality and traits

The commander was a strong leader, focused solely on his objective of obtaining the kyber crystals from the planet's depths. He disregarded the prisoners who provided him with the crystals, leaving them to die. Although he showed little regard for the lives of others, he couldn't bring himself to order his soldiers to fire on the crowd of citizens. Instead, he lowered his head in defeat and ordered his troopers to retreat.

Equipment

The commander wore standard stormtrooper armor, enhanced with a black cape featuring red trim. He also carried a blaster pistol in a holster located just below the utility belt. The buttons on his wrist armor served various purposes, including communication and controlling the prisoners' restraints.
