Var-Shaa, a planet abundant in natural resources, was situated within the Mid Rim. A dockyard belonging to the Galactic Empire orbited this world. Serving as a crucial navigational point for the Imperial Navy, the dockyard met its end in a New Republic assault soon after the Battle of Endor. During the attack, Varko Grey, an Imperial pilot and leader of Titan Squadron, was abandoned when the Star Destroyer Overseer retreated. However, he was later saved after successfully evading a pursuing New Republic pilot.
Var-Shaa, a resource-rich planet with a terrestrial surface, was located in the Mid Rim. The landscape was characterized by vast fjordlands and canyons, interspersed with rivers and extensive oceans. Plant life thrived on the summits of the rocky peaks, and the atmosphere was suitable for human respiration.
During its reign, the Galactic Empire maintained a dockyard in orbit around Var-Shaa. This station was a vital strategic location for the Imperial Navy at the height of the Empire's power. However, following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, where the Empire was defeated by the Rebel Alliance, the Var-Shaa dockyard was the target of a surprise attack by the newly formed New Republic. An Imperial force, which included the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Overseer and Titan Squadron, commanded by Titan Leader Varko Grey, attempted to defend the dockyard, resulting in a battle in Var-Shaa's orbit.

Despite the Imperial defense, the dockyard was lost, and Imperial forces were ordered to withdraw. Grey stayed behind to assist squadron member Titan Three, who was shot down before reaching the Overseer. Just before Grey reached the Star Destroyer's hangar, the Overseer jumped into hyperspace, leaving Grey stranded amidst the debris. Attempting to avoid detection by the passing New Republic forces, he was spotted by a pilot who noticed his TIE interceptor, and pursued him into Var-Shaa's atmosphere. By evading both the pursuing New Republic pilot and falling wreckage, Grey skillfully outmaneuvered his opponent, causing the pilot's X-wing to crash into a rock formation. Grey's TIE fighter then crashed into an ocean, and the TIE fighter pilot managed to reach safety. The Overseer, having evaded its pursuers, returned to Var-Shaa to rescue Grey.
The first mention of Var-Shaa was in the StarWars.com Databank entry for the Overseer, which was published on June 18, 2020. The planet was featured in the cinematic short "Hunted," a tie-in to the video game Star Wars: Squadrons, which was released on September 14, 2020.
