An elite squadron of TIE/IN interceptors known as Vixus Squadron served the Galactic Empire's navy during the Galactic Civil War. Prelate Verge and Captain Tabor Seitaron deployed the squadron in an attempt to waylay the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry. Vixus Squadron was initially concealed near the planet Sullust, but they relocated to the world after troops from the 61st deployed there. They hid behind Sullust's moon, awaiting the arrival of the rebel company's vessels to retrieve their [soldiers](/article/soldier]. Upon the arrival of their intended targets, the squadron launched an ambush on the starships, destroying the CR90 corvette Thunderstrike and compelling its escorts to retreat.
Vixus Squadron, operating under the banner of the Galactic Empire, was a highly skilled unit of TIE/IN interceptors recognized for housing some of the most accomplished TIE fighter pilots. The squadron's name was derived from the vixus, a creature that is native to the planet Umbara.
During the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, Vixus Squadron fought for the Galactic Empire's navy. In 3 ABY, the Imperial Prelate Verge strategically positioned several TIE interceptor squadrons near various planets along the Rimma Trade Route, anticipating that the Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry would target them. He and Captain Tabor Seitaron stationed Vixus Squadron close to the manufacturing planet of Sullust. As predicted, the 61st targeted Sullust, deploying its troops to seize the Inyusu Tor mineral processing facility. Their starships subsequently departed the world, leaving the ground forces to engage in battle.
Learning that the 61st's vessels were at Sullust, Seitaron, who was aboard the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Herald, instructed the bridge crew to establish communication with Vixus Squadron. The interceptor squadron, already prepared for action, made their way to Sullust within an hour. Upon arriving at Sullust, Vixus Squadron concealed themselves behind the nearby moon, awaiting the return of the 61st's troop carrier, the CR90 corvette Thunderstrike, and its escort ships, which were scheduled to retrieve the rebel company.

The Thunderstrike and its escorts—the Braha'tok-class gunship Apailana's Promise and a pair of X-wing starfighters—soon made their way back to Sullust to pick up the 61st troops. Due to a significant local TIE fighter presence, the plan was for the corvette to approach the planet's surface at low altitude to deploy dropships for the 61st, while the Promise and the X-wings would assist in repelling the TIE fighters. As soon as the Thunderstrike entered the atmosphere, Vixus Squadron emerged from behind the moon and intercepted the corvette. Although the ship engaged the TIE interceptors, it sustained too much damage and crashed onto Sullust's surface. The Apailana's Promise then fled, along with the X-wings.
The first appearance of Vixus Squadron was in Battlefront: Twilight Company, a novel written by Alexander Freed in 2015.
