The Thunderstrike, a CR90 corvette, saw action with the Alliance to Restore the Republic's 61st Mobile Infantry. Captain Micha Evon, nicknamed Howl, commanded this vessel until his death during the Battle of Hoth. Following this, Rebel trooper Hazram Namir assumed unofficial control of the ship until it was destroyed at the Siege of Inyusu Tor, where the corvette fell victim to an ambush by the Galactic Empire. Accompanying the Thunderstrike was the Braha'tok-class gunship named Apailana's Promise.
Prior to the Galactic Civil War, the CR90 corvette known as Thunderstrike began its service within the alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry. Micha Evon, more famously known as Howl, acted as its Captain, leading the Sixty-First. At some stage, the Thunderstrike gained its own escort, a Braha'tok-class gunship called the Apailana's Promise, capable of carrying two X-wing starfighters into combat for the Sixty-First. During a mission on Allst Prime, the Thunderstrike remained in orbit while the Sixty-First's soldiers engaged in ground combat. The Thunderstrike inflicted substantial damage by bombarding the Shield surrounding the Crucival transmitter tower.
Throughout the Alliance's advance into the Mid Rim and its subsequent Mid Rim Retreat, the Thunderstrike faithfully served the Sixty-First. During the Attack on Haidoral Prime, Governor Everi Chalis defected to the Sixty-First and was detained within one of the Thunderstrike's airlocks. Following the Coyerti campaign, the ship sustained three separate attacks in the Metatessu sector, leaving a trail of leaking Hyperdrive fuel. To acquire necessary repairs, it and the Apailana's Promise attacked an Imperial heavy freighter. Throughout the raid, the Thunderstrike fired intermittently at the freighter to maintain its unstable condition. The arrival of an Imperial Gozanti Cruiser brought the battle to an abrupt end, but the Thunderstrike successfully obtained the required supplies.
Subsequently, the Thunderstrike and the Apailana's Promise met with a Flotilla within the Elochar sector to undergo necessary repairs. Meanwhile, Howl traveled to Echo Base on Hoth with Chalis to meet with the Alliance High Command. Engineers promptly commenced repairs, while soldiers engaged in patrols or took shore leave on other vessels. Captain So-Hem of the Sixmoon extended an invitation for Sixty-First soldiers to visit his ship. Shortly thereafter, the Trumpet's Call was infiltrated by Imperial spies. The Light freighter arrived at the flotilla with a failed life support system, carrying numerous deceased rebels and unconscious infiltrators. Unaware, the Thunderstrike welcomed the spies aboard, and upon regaining consciousness, they stormed the bridge, killing Howl's second-in-command, Lieutenant Sairgon, and the Naval Officer, Commander Paonu. Fortunately, Sairgon managed to transmit a warning to the flotilla, prompting the ships to retreat. The Sixty-First soldiers then regained control of the Thunderstrike and escaped the system.
News arrived that Howl had perished during the Battle of Hoth amidst the chaos in the Elochar Sector, brought by Chalis and First Sergeant Hazram Namir. Commander Tohna transitioned from commanding the Apailana's Promise to leading the Thunderstrike. After undergoing complete repairs on Ankhural, the Sixty-First formulated a plan to dismantle Kuat Drive Yards, known as Operation Ringbreaker. The Thunderstrike transported troops of the Sixty-First to and from Mardona III and then Obumubo before delivering a payload to the Dockyards of Najan-Rovi. It subsequently played its part in the attacks on Nakadia, Naator, Xagobah, and the Kuliquo belt asteroid mines. Finally, it arrived at Sullust, where the soldiers seized Inyusu Tor. However, upon returning to extract them, the Thunderstrike was ambushed and shot down by TIE Fighters from Vixus Squadron. Shortly after, TIE Bombers devastated the Thunderstrike, though a team managed to rescue Commander Tohna from the wreckage.
Determined to eradicate the Sixty-First after stranding them on Sullust, Imperial forces under the command of Prelate Verge launched an assault. However, during the Siege of Inyusu Tor, their plan backfired when Namir, now Captain of the company, weaponized the factory's lava against the ground troops, and an Ion mine inflicted internal damage on the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Herald, forcing its retreat. Following the battle, the soldiers regrouped, and the Sullustan resistance, aided by the Cobalt Laborers' Reformation Front, captured Pinyumb. Quartermaster Hober then scavenged the Thunderstrike, draining its batteries. The Apailana's Promise returned, having successfully held off the Herald for the majority of the battle.
The Thunderstrike made its debut in Battlefront: Twilight Company, a novel authored by Alexander Freed and released in 2015.
