Tohna

Tohna, a male human, held the rank of commander within the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, famously known as Twilight Company, throughout the Galactic Civil War. He commanded the Braha'tok-class gunship named Apailana's Promise, which provided escort for the company's CR90 corvette, the Thunderstrike.

In the year 3 ABY, following the deaths of key personnel during an infiltration event on the corvette, Tohna was reassigned to the Thunderstrike. Tohna, along with the crew of the Apailana's Promise, formulated the plan for Twilight Company's deployment onto the planet [Mardona III], and he remained on the Thunderstrike until its destruction on the planet Sullust.

After being recovered from the corvette's wreckage, Tohna and the remaining bridge crew assisted the company's soldiers as they defended the Inyusu Tor mineral processing facility against Imperial forces. In the aftermath of the battle, the commander delivered a commemorative speech for the Thunderstrike as one of its laser cannon plasma cells was being emptied, and later participated in a game of sabacc with members of the company.

Biography

Transfer to the Thunderstrike

Tohna, initially a helmsman, chose to join the Rebel Alliance in their fight against the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War. Serving as a commander on the Apailana's Promise, a Braha'tok-class gunship supporting the 61st Mobile Infantry, also known as Twilight Company, he acted as an escort for their CR90 corvette, the Thunderstrike. In 3 ABY, Imperial spies infiltrated the Thunderstrike, resulting in the killing of the senior officers aboard. Due to the significant loss of leadership within Twilight Company, First Sergeant Hazram Namir stepped up as the provisional leader, succeeding the deceased Captain Micha Evon, and Tohna was transferred to the Thunderstrike to oversee the bridge crew and manage the corvette, a position previously held by the late Commander Paonu. Twilight Company soon embarked on Operation Ringbreaker, a strategy conceived by Imperial defector Everi Chalis aimed at provoking redeployments from the Kuat Drive Yards, thereby weakening its defenses in anticipation of a company assault. Tohna and the Apailana's Promise crew devised the deployment strategy for Operation Ringbreaker's initial target, the warehouse planet Mardona III. This plan involved the Thunderstrike and Promise executing a rapid descent towards the planet to release their dropships carrying troops, operating beneath the planet's satellites and beyond the range of the continental cannons.

As they descended towards Mardona III, Namir sought reassurance from Tohna regarding the deployment's progress. The commander responded with enthusiasm, likening the descending ships to seahawks swooping down on their prey. The attack on the warehouse world proved successful, and in the following weeks, Twilight Company targeted several more vulnerable Imperial sites along the Rimma Trade Route, with only the planets Sullust and Malastare remaining before reaching the Kuat Drive Yards.

Shot down

The leadership of Twilight Company struggled to reach a consensus on how to deploy their troops on Sullust, agreeing only that a direct assault on the defensive turrets was unfeasible. Tohna, however, proposed a plan for the Thunderstrike to jump much closer to the planet and then jump away once the dropships had deployed the troops. Namir, regarded by some as the new captain, feared that a miscalculation could result in the Thunderstrike crashing into Sullust at lightspeed and that the initial wave of troops would lack sufficient time to establish a foothold on Sullust. Despite these concerns, the acting captain approved the plan, seeing no superior options for Twilight Company. Tohna's plan succeeded, and the dropships delivered the troops to seize the Inyusu Tor mineral processing facility.

Following Tohna's strategy, the Thunderstrike and Apailana's Promise emerged from hyperspace half a million kilometers from Sullust's surface, nearly succumbing to the planet's intense gravity. After the company deployed, Namir, who accompanied the ground troops, granted them twenty-four hours to secure the Inyusu Tor facility, which they captured in twelve. They spent the subsequent twelve hours patrolling the facility until the Thunderstrike and Promise returned.

However, as the Thunderstrike and Apailana's Promise entered the atmosphere, TIE/IN interceptors from Vixus Squadron appeared from behind Sullust's moon and began attacking the two ships. Tohna directed the corvette to fly low, using the Promise and its X-wings as cover. As the TIE presence intensified, the crew of the Apailana's Promise reported the ambush, and Namir ordered the Thunderstrike to retreat. Nevertheless, the corvette crashed onto Sullust's surface, leaving the Twilight Company troops stranded at the facility while the Promise and its X-wings fled the system.

The Siege of Inyusu Tor

Tohna survived the crash, and Namir led a team to search the Thunderstrike's wreckage to rescue any survivors. Namir extracted Tohna from the wreckage and brought him back to the rest of Twilight Company at the Inyusu Tor facility. The company then prepared for the impending assault from the gathering Imperial forces in the valley below. When the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Herald arrived, the Imperial ground forces launched their attack on the facility.

During the battle, Tohna repurposed the bridge crew into runners, tasked with delivering essential supplies, such as fresh water and blaster power packs, to the soldiers on the front lines, injecting humor, taunts, and challenges between teams to foster competition among the soldiers where needed. The Apailana's Promise soon returned, diverting the Herald's firepower away from Namir's defenses. Later, Chalis fled Inyusu Tor during the battle, allowing herself to be captured by the Herald. Once aboard, she detonated twenty ion bombs, causing a power surge on the Herald and forcing it to withdraw from Sullust.

With the Herald gone, the Imperial ground forces were left to face defeat on their own. After the battle, Tohna and others salvaged what they could from the Thunderstrike's remains, and as Quartermaster Hober drained one of its laser cannon plasma cells, Tohna delivered a brief eulogy for the ship, prompting cheers from the soldiers. That evening, the commander and three other Twilight Company soldiers, Gadren, Brand, and Twitch, found a deck of cards and began a game of sabacc. Tohna invited Namir to join them, but the acting captain declined, with Brand revealing that he didn't know how to play the card game.

Personality and traits

Tohna, a human male, gave Hazram Namir the impression of being short and muscular. He came to the Thunderstrike highly recommended by his fellow officers on the Apailana's Promise. During Twilight Company's deployment onto Mardona III, Tohna's voice came over the comm, comparing the ships to laughing seahawks diving for their prey. Namir also heard his cheers through the comm during their arrival at Sullust. During the Siege of Inyusu Tor, Tohna reorganized the bridge crew into runners, using jokes, taunts, and challenges between teams to encourage competition between soldiers. When one of the corvette's plasma cells was drained, the commander made a remark about the Thunderstrike, inspiring cheers from the Twilight soldiers.
