Battle in the Enrivi system

A conflict unfolded in 3 ABY within the Enrivi system, pitting the 61st Mobile Infantry of the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire's military. Imperial forces consisting of a light cruiser and a squadron of TIE fighters laid in wait, ambushing the starships of the 61st. The 61st, however, emerged victorious, completely annihilating the Imperial cruiser and its entire complement of personnel.

Prelude

The soldiers of the 61st Mobile Infantry (patch pictured) found themselves the target of an extensive hunt by the Galactic Empire within the Metatessu sector.

Back in 3 ABY, the 61st Mobile Infantry of the Rebel Alliance engaged an Imperial reconnaissance squadron during a skirmish within the Kontahr sector. During this encounter, the 61st's CR90 corvette, known as the Thunderstrike, sustained damage to its hyperdrive, resulting in a leak of hypermatter. This trail was detected by the Empire following the 61st's departure from the jungle planet Coyerti, more than two weeks later.

Concurrently, Captain Tabor Seitaron of the Empire, aboard his Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Herald, was actively pursuing the battle group. His objective was to capture Governor Everi Chalis, an Imperial defector who had joined the 61st and begun aiding the rebellion. Exploiting the hypermatter trail, the captain tasked a dozen officers on the Herald with coordinating with Imperial starships throughout the Metatessu sector. The 61st was first attacked three days after leaving Coyerti, in a star system situated at the sector's edge, before managing a swift escape.

The battle

After thirty hours, the 61st's ships arrived in the Enrivi system, with the intention of securing repairs. As the Braha'tok-class gunship Apailana's Promise, the CR90 corvette Thunderstrike, and the two X-wing starfighters entered the system, Imperial forces ambushed them. The ambush force was composed of a light cruiser and a squadron of TIE fighters. Even with one X-wing impaired from a previous engagement, the Thunderstrike and its escorts achieved a resounding victory, utterly destroying the Imperial contingent. The resulting explosion of the cruiser consumed its own escape pods.

Aftermath

Captain Micha Evon of the 61st expressed his sorrow regarding the extensive Imperial losses following the conflict. Despite this, the soldiers of the 61st celebrated their triumph, raising toasts to their pilots and gunners. The latter, however, refrained from joining the festivities, anticipating the need for their services once more. Their premonitions were confirmed when the 61st faced another attack nineteen hours later in the Chonsetta system. Subsequently, M2-M5, the 61st's chief mechanic, discovered that the Thunderstrike's damaged hyperdrive was leaving a hypermatter trail that the Empire was using to track them. The hyperdrive was ultimately repaired after the battle group raided an Imperial heavy freighter located in the Redhurne system.
