Tabor Seitaron

Tabor Seitaron was a human male who attained the rank of captain within the Imperial Navy, serving alongside Prelate Verge. In addition to his naval service, he functioned as a teacher at the Imperial Academy located on Carida. During Verge's pursuit of Everi Chalis, Seitaron accompanied him on the Herald. During the Siege of Inyusu Tor, Seitaron ultimately killed the young prelate.

Biography

Early life

Prior to the Galactic Empire's rise, during the time of the Galactic Republic, Tabor Seitaron was a member of the Republic Navy, serving aboard Star Destroyers before they were known by that designation. As the Republic transitioning and became the Empire, he advanced to the rank of captain and observed the evolution of Star Destroyers into the formidable weapons of the Imperial Navy. Canonhaus once served under Captain Seitaron, who noted in Canonhaus's record that the Imperial officer lacked exceptional insight and required further experience. On another occasion, he emphasized to the student in a wardroom the importance of knowing one's crew.

He encountered Everi Chalis, an emissary to the Imperial Ruling Council, alongside Imperial figures such as Tiaan Jerjerrod and Kenth Leesha at various meetings and receptions on Coruscant. By 14 BBY, Seitaron retired from active duty and began teaching military history to cadets at the Imperial academy on Carida. Seitaron, who once taught Tian Karmiya, gained a reputation in his classes for penalizing students like Karmiya who failed to grasp the true events, as opposed to the "official" narratives promoted by COMPNOR. In 1 BBY, he was aboard the Rueful Confession for its test flight.

A new mission

In 3 ABY, Prelate Verge, a rising member of the Imperial Ruling Council, summoned Seitaron to the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Herald above Carida. Upon arriving via shuttle, he was greeted by an ensign accompanied by two stormtroopers, who escorted him from the hangar. Seitaron assured the ensign that he had brought nothing on the shuttle. The ensign then provided a tour of the Herald, highlighting the Star Destroyer's features and linking the ship's upgrades to Seitaron's career achievements. Seitaron inquired about the officer's duration of service on the Herald and was surprised to learn it was only four months.

After nearly an hour, the ensign left Seitaron in the Herald's conference center, where Verge eventually arrived. After greeting the captain, the prelate explained his desire for Seitaron's assistance in capturing Chalis, who had recently defected to the Rebel Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry, known as Twilight Company. Seitaron questioned his role in the mission, given his lack of contact with Chalis in years, and suggested Jerjerrod or Leesha for the task. However, Verge stated that refusing the "privilege" would be as incomprehensible as Chalis's defection. Seitaron reluctantly accepted the mission, and Verge assured him of their future achievements together.

News of Seitaron's sudden departure from Carida reached Canonhaus, who mistakenly believed his former commanding officer had been "disappeared" and "proscribed" for his views on official history.

Tracking Chalis

Verge initiated the hunt for Chalis by plotting potential courses from Haidoral Prime that Twilight Company might have taken. Seitaron struggled to keep up with the rapid-fire scenarios Verge presented. He dedicated much of his time to studying and interacting with the Herald's crew, reviewing their files at night. Seitaron also analyzed Verge, finding the prelate highly charismatic. On Seitaron's sixth night aboard the Herald, Verge hosted an impromptu gala in a docking bay transformed into a concert hall, inviting Seitaron and many crew members. An hour into the evening, Verge revealed that the gala's purpose was to address an Imperial officer who had failed to report a sighting of Twilight Company at Coyerti. Seitaron observed as the prelate summoned the officer and allowed the attendees to punish him. That night, Seitaron had a restless sleep and began to long for a return to Carida, desiring to better equip his troops for the hunt to expedite its completion.

Shortly after Twilight Company attacked Coyerti, Seitaron discovered that their CR90 corvette, the Thunderstrike, was leaving a particle trail due to a damaged hyperdrive. He tasked numerous officers with coordinating with other Imperial starships in the Metatessu sector, where the Thunderstrike was fleeing, to intercept the corvette. Over the following days, the Thunderstrike was attacked three times, sustaining damage. However, the corvette and its escort, the Dornean gunship Apailana's Promise, raided an Imperial heavy freighter in the Redhurne system and acquired supplies to repair the Thunderstrike's hyperdrive.

Upon receiving a report of the raid, Seitaron expressed his frustration at failing to anticipate it. After dismissing an liaison officer's apology, he discussed their next course of action with Verge. Seitaron noted that the Thunderstrike would require repairs, and Verge suggested that the corvette would stop at a rebel base or flotilla. They moved their conversation from the Herald's bridge to the tactical center, joined by Seitaron's preferred officers. Recognizing that they could not directly track Twilight Company or a potential base or flotilla, Seitaron proposed intercepting another rebel ship in need of repairs, knowing that half the Alliance Fleet had recently been driven out of the Mid Rim. Verge approved his idea.

The failure

Following Seitaron's plan, an infiltration was organized by an Imperial Special Forces commander aboard the Herald. The team utilized the captured light freighter Trumpet's Call to locate the flotilla where the Thunderstrike and Apailana's Promise were situated, as Seitaron had intended. By posing as rebel survivors with the Trumpet's Call's life support deactivated, they lured Twilight Company into taking them aboard their corvette for medical assistance. The infiltration team then seized the Thunderstrike's bridge, and the Herald arrived to force Twilight Company to surrender Chalis. However, the rebels quickly retook the Thunderstrike's bridge, and the liberated corvette fled the system with the Apailana's Promise under fire.

As a consequence of losing the Thunderstrike, Verge punished the Special Forces commander, a gunner who hesitated to fire, and a scan officer who failed to predict the hyperspace jump. These three individuals were used as calibration subjects, a decision Seitaron did not challenge. A week later, during a conversation between Seitaron and Verge, Verge acknowledged Seitaron's disapproval of his punishment methods. He reminded the captain that the Emperor demanded unwavering loyalty from all subjects. When the prelate inquired about their next step in finding Chalis, Seitaron concluded that they would anticipate her next move.

Ambush at Sullust

Shortly thereafter, Chalis and Twilight Company initiated attacks on vulnerable targets along the Rimma Trade Route. Recognizing her expertise in the Empire's logistical infrastructure, Seitaron surmised that she intended to inflict a crippling blow. Aiming to intercept her during campaign, he worked to predict her next target, narrowing it down from numerous manufacturing facilities, spacedocks, and shipping lanes. Seitaron failed to intercept Chalis at Nakadia and the Kuliquo belt, but managed to pinpoint her next target to a handful of possible locations, including Sullust, Malastare, and Tshindral.

Seitaron prepared Chalis's potential targets for an attack. As predicted, Twilight Company arrived at Sullust. Barcel, the Herald's communications officer, informed Seitaron, who had a direct channel to the TIE fighter squadron Vixus Squadron. Seitaron prioritized the Thunderstrike as the primary target and ensured that the Sullust Imperial garrison did not eliminate Twilight Company, so that the Thunderstrike had a reason to come back for the company. Shortly after, Vixus Squadron arrived at Sullust and ambushed the corvette upon its return to pick up Twilight Company. Unable to withstand the TIE fighters, the Thunderstrike was shot down, and the Apailana's Promise fled with its X-wings.

The Siege of Inyusu Tor

Two days later, the Herald arrived at Sullust to support the Imperial garrison against Twilight Company, which had established defenses at the Inyusu Tor mineral processing facility. While the garrison attacked the Inyusu Tor facility below, the Star Destroyer targeted the outer defenses but was diverted when the Apailana's Promise arrived with its X-wings. Seitaron, amused by the gunship's arrival and surprised when Twilight Company used the facility's lava pumps against the ground forces, stood on the bridge of the Herald. He planned to reinforce the dwindling ground forces once the Promise and the X-wings were gone.

Late into the battle, Barcel approached Seitaron with news that a shuttle departing the planet had transmitted clearance codes matching those Chalis had used to evade the Empire. Seitaron immediately recognized that Chalis was attempting to escape, and Verge ordered her shuttle to be pulled in by tractor beam. The prelate then began towards the shuttle bays. Seitaron wished to remain monitoring the battle, but Verge insisted on the captain joining him. The pair proceeded to the tertiary shuttle bay with two fleet troopers, Zhios and Cantompa, whom Seitaron respected. After receiving the all-clear, the four entered the hangar to confront Chalis.

Confronting Chalis

Chalis emerged from her shuttle wearing the uniform of an Imperial captain she had killed. She expressed surprise at Seitaron's return from retirement to witness her capture and then mocked Verge's title as prelate. Verge identified himself as an agent of the Emperor, and she continued to taunt him about his rumored obsession with the Emperor. Chalis then offered to reveal her knowledge of the Rebel Alliance in exchange for a pardon. Verge approached her and assaulted her, knocking her to the floor. The prelate rejected her offer, and she revealed a device from her pocket. Seitaron recognized the device as it activated, triggering twenty ion bombs inside Chalis's shuttle.

The ion bombs caused a power surge on the Herald, which Seitaron quickly deduced while his vision was temporarily impaired. Verge insisted that the bombs would have no effect, but Seitaron knew otherwise, pointing out that the Star Destroyer needed full power to stay flying in atmosphere. He ordered the Herald's bridge crew to divert all weapons and auxiliary power to the engines to withdraw from Sullust's gravity. However, his comlink was disabled by the power surge. Improvising, Seitaron ordered Zhios and Cantompa to relay his message. As the two fleet troopers attempted to open the hangar door, Chalis and Verge exchanged insults, and Verge continued to beat her.

Zhios and Cantompa then breached the door, but Verge ordered them to stop, insisting that the Herald would sacrifice itself to destroy Twilight Company at the Inyusu Tor facility. Seitaron argued against this, but the prelate told the captain to not question him. Chalis suddenly attacked him and the two grappled. Seitaron drew his Merr-Sonn B22 blaster pistol and shot Verge. After ordering Zhios and Cantompa to send his aforementioned message, the captain then confronted Chalis, who asked how she had "shot herself" to confuse Seitaron. The former governor escaped the Herald, which proceeded to exit Sullust to avoid its own destruction, allowing Twilight Company to win on the ground.

Personality and traits

Tabor Seitaron was a human male. He made acquaintance to many of the Herald's crew and socialized them and read their personal files. Seitaron further sympathised with the crew of the Herald and was quick to order the Star Destroyer's retreat in order to save all of them. Thus he chose to kill Verge when he opposed his ideas.
