Serving under Prelate Verge was the Herald, an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. As the Mid Rim Retreat neared its conclusion, Verge called Captain Tabor Seitaron out of retirement to assist in the pursuit of Governor Everi Chalis. Chalis had defected from her position on Haidoral Prime to join the Alliance to Restore the Republics 61st Mobile Infantry. Following leads, Imperial spies successfully captured the Light freighter Trumpet's Call, which was scheduled to meet the Sixty-First at a flotilla situated within the Elochar sector. At that location, the spies commandeered the Sixty-First's CR90 corvette, the Thunderstrike, and subsequently relayed its coordinates to the Herald. Arriving at the designated location, the Herald discovered the Thunderstrike and its escort, the Braha'tok-class gunship Apailana's Promise, as the sector's only vessels. By this time, the Sixty-First had regained control of the Corvette and initiated their escape. As it fled, the Herald inflicted damage upon the ship. Throughout this entire engagement, Chalis had been present on Hoth alongside the Sixty-First's Captain Micha Evon. The Sixty-First had suffered a significant blow from Verge and the Herald, resulting in the loss of all officers following Captain Evon's demise during the Battle of Hoth. Now under the joint leadership of Hazram Namir and Chalis, they initiated Operation Ringbreaker. This operation involved assaults on numerous Imperial facilities and garrisons, drawing the attention of Verge and Tabor. They strategically positioned Vixus Squadron at Sullust, the Sixty-First's next target, where the TIE Fighters successfully shot down the Thunderstrike and forced the Apailana's Promise to retreat. Upon reaching Sullust, the Herald discovered Chalis and the Sixty-First stranded at Inyusu Tor, with Imperial ground forces awaiting support to launch an attack. As the battle commenced, the Herald initiated a bombardment of the Sixty-First's position. However, the Apailana's Promise returned to defend against the Star Destroyer's assault. Chalis attempted to flee aboard a shuttle, which was subsequently captured by the Herald. Tabor and Verge went to greet her, unaware that the shuttle was rigged with Ion bombs. Chalis detonated the bombs, causing a power surge throughout the Herald. Amidst the ensuing chaos, Verge perished, and Tabor ordered the Herald to retreat, enabling the Sixty-First to claim victory on Sullust.
