Vram (Pyke)

The offspring of Marg and Tezzka Krim, named Vram, had a significant connection to the Pyke Syndicate through his father, who held a leadership role during the Clone Wars. He was also Laalee's older sibling. When Krim, his father, opted not to consolidate the Pyke Syndicate with the larger Black Sun criminal organization, Black Sun responded by abducting Vram, his mother, and his sister. The Krims were then held captive within the Black Sun fortress located on Mustafar, an attempt to coerce Marg into accepting their demands. Ultimately, Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos, Force-sensitive bounty hunters, intervened and rescued Vram and his family, reuniting them with their father.

Biography

During the era of the Clone Wars, Vram resided on the planet Oba Diah as a Pyke. His father, Marg Krim, was a prominent crime lord, and his mother was Tezzka Krim. In addition, he had a younger sister named Laalee. In the second year of the Clone Wars, Marg became the leader of the Pyke Syndicate, a crime family that specialized in the distribution of illicit spices throughout the galaxy. Marg's refusal to merge with the rival Black Sun syndicate led Ziton Moj, the leader of the Black Sun, to order the kidnapping of Vram, Laalee, and their mother Tezzka, hoping to change Marg's mind.

Vram and his family were imprisoned within the highest room of a tower that dominated the Black Sun fortress on the volcanic world of Mustafar. During their captivity, Vram and his sister witnessed their mother being forcibly escorted away by Ziton's Falleen guards. Distraught by the loss of his family and lacking trust in his own subordinates to execute a rescue, his father hired the Force-sensitive bounty hunters Asajj Ventress and Quinlan Vos to undertake the mission. After discovering the location of Vram and his family, the two hunters infiltrated the fortress by way of an overhanging balcony.

While peering through the window of their room, Vram and Laalee spotted the rescuers scaling the balcony. Ventress disabled the window's controls, and Vos entered the room through the now-open window, informing the children that they were there to rescue them. He instructed them to trust him and to remain as quiet as possible. Vos, a Jedi operating undercover, utilized his Force abilities to soothe the children. While his sister cried, Vram told Vos that the Black Sun guards had taken away their mother.

Soon after, an alarm sounded, and Black Sun sentries began to converge on the tower. Deeming it too dangerous to engage the guards with the children present, Ventress and Vos decided to use their Force powers to carry the children on their backs and leap down the battlements and boulders to reach their lava flea mounts, which were parked nearby. While Laalee and Ventress successfully reached their lava flea, Vos, carrying Vram, was struck in the back by a blaster bolt. Vram lost his grip and began to fall towards a lava flow. However, Vos prevented death by using the Force to levitate him to safety.

Vram, unharmed but shaken by the near-accident, was taken with his sister Laalee to Vos' ship, the Banshee. While Ventress tended to Vos' wounds, Vram and Laalee listened to music in a corner of the hold. Later, Vos used his psychometric abilities to examine Laalee's locket and determine the location of their mother Tezzka. After securing Vram and Laalee to containment chairs, the two hunters proceeded with their mission to rescue Tezzka. Following a brief skirmish with Ziton and his men, Ventress and Vos successfully rescued Tezzka and escaped Mustafar.

Once aboard the ship, Vram and Laalee were overjoyed to be reunited with their mother, who embraced them tightly. Ventress and Vos then returned the Krims to Oba Diah, reuniting them with Marg. During the journey, Vos established a friendly relationship with Vram and his sister. Overjoyed by the safe return of his family, their father doubled the payment he had initially offered to Ventress and Vos. Before their departure, Vram and Laalee pleaded with Vos to stay with them, but he declined. Before leaving, Vos hugged them. The Krim family's respite was brief, as the Black Sun decided to dispatch a fleet to Oba Diah to "teach Marg Krim a lesson."

The rescue of Marg Krim's family was later referenced in "Index of Organizations," a survival compendium distributed by Carson Teva during the New Republic Era.

Personality and traits

Vram was a young child who was frightened by the kidnapping of his family at the hands of the Black Sun crime syndicate. He appeared to get on well with his younger sister Laalee and their parents Tezzka and Marg. As the older of the two children, Vram was the more talkative. Hem and Laalee befriended Quinlan Vos, the most approachable of their two rescuers. Vram and his sister were small enough to piggyback on Ventress and Vos' backs. He once experienced a near-death encounter when he almost fell into a lava flow during his rescue attempt on Mustafar but was saved by Vos, who used the Force to levitate him to safety.

Behind the scenes

Vram and his family made their first appearance as minor characters in Christie Golden's 2015 novel Dark Disciple, which was adapted from eight unproduced screenplays from the canceled Cartoon Network TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Dark Disciple is part of the Canon The Clone Wars Legacy, a multimedia project utilizing material from the canceled series.
