X-wing starfighter
The X-wing was a notable series of multiple starfighters manufactured by Incom. Its defining feature was the "X" shape formed by its four wings, referred to as S-foils, which extended outward from the main body of the craft. These starfighters served with the forces of the Rebel Alliance, the New Republic, the Galactic Alliance, and also the New Jedi Order. Initially, the X-wing was conceived for the Galactic Empire; however, the entire Incom design team, along with the prototypes, defected to the Rebel Alliance, thereby nullifying the original contract.

Behind the scenes
Originally, the color scheme for the X-wing fighters was blue. However, this was altered to red and white to prevent the blue from merging with the blue screen during the filming process. In the novelization of A New Hope, the X-wing squadron is referred to as Blue Wing, and the callsign of Luke Skywalker was Blue Four.
