True Way
The religious system of the Yuuzhan Vong was known as the True Way or True Path. Notably, it was the only religious belief system on record that originated outside of the galaxy. Furthermore, it stands as one of the most brutally violent, utterly intolerant, and rigidly dogmatic religions ever documented. Following the defeat suffered by the Yuuzhan Vong in 29 ABY, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances officially prohibited its practice.
Worship
At the core of Yuuzhan Vong religious practice was the veneration of all forms of life, an idea that was heavily questioned by many given the massive deaths resulting from the Yuuzhan Vong's invasion of the galaxy. Their devotion to life was so extreme that they considered any and all mechanical devices to be a form of sacrilege. Instead, the Yuuzhan Vong utilized living technology, which they regarded as a sacred gift bestowed upon them by their gods, the Yun'o. This intense and unwavering dedication to their deities fueled some of the most horrifying atrocities ever witnessed within the galaxy. The Yuuzhan Vong were convinced that the Yun'o had gifted them the galaxy, with the expectation that they would purge it of all those deemed "infidels."
Pain and the act of sacrifice held significant importance within both Yuuzhan Vong religious beliefs and their societal structure. Yuuzhan Vong mythology states that Yun-Yuuzhan, the Creator God, underwent a profoundly painful self-mutilation, sacrificing portions of his own being to bring forth the universe, the other gods, and the Yuuzhan Vong themselves. The Yuuzhan Vong believed that life, in its separation from Yun-Yuuzhan, was synonymous with pain, while death represented the simple act of reuniting with Yun-Yuuzhan. However, some argued that the Yuuzhan Vong's worship of pain was a reflection of the suffering they inflicted upon those who did not adhere to their beliefs.
The other gods played a role in the formation of their society. Yun-Yammka, the God of War (actually a creation of the Priest caste), demanded that the Yuuzhan Vong perform sacrifices of blood and body parts as a way to honor Yun-Yuuzhan. Yun-Harla, the Goddess of Deception, instructed the Yuuzhan Vong on the merit of physical alteration, believing that modifying themselves to resemble other creatures brought them closer to Yun-Yuuzhan. Yun-Ne'Shel, the Goddess of Life, symbolized the creation of new things, and the Yuuzhan Vong patterned their actions after her example.
