Levinous

Levinous was a major shareholder of the who became a Grand General of the Galactic Empire's Imperial Army. He never left the planet Coruscant and so was mockingly called a "holotable officer," with historian Beaumont Kin suggesting in his book, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, that Levinous only attained his rank due to his connections to Grand Vizier Mas Amedda. After the apparent death of Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine in 4 ABY, Levinous declared himself Emperor before being deposed and arrested by his own forces.

Levinous was a man who held major shares in the , a company associated with the Galactic Empire that mined the landmasses of the planet Champala. The company paid a percentage of its profits as well as ongoing bribes to Grand Vizier Mas Amedda, a powerful Imperial and native of Champala to who Levinous had ties.

Levinous was granted the most prestigious rank in the Imperial Army, becoming a Grand General, but never left the Imperial capital, Coruscant, and did not appear in the same sector as any of the ongoing military campaigns. This resulted in others often mockingly referring to him as a "holotable officer."

Emperor's no groove

After declaring himself Emperor, Levinous tried to establish himself on Carida, as did Rolas.

After declaring himself Emperor, Levinous tried to establish himself on Carida, as did Rolas.

After the apparent death of Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine at the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Levinous declared himself Emperor while trying to haphazardly organize a power base on the planet Carida. Fellow self-declared Emperor Rolas, formerly an admiral of the Empire's 14th Fleet, also attempted to set up a base of operations on Carida, but neither the former Grand General or the former admiral inspired much loyalty from the forces under their control and they were both quickly deposed and arrested by their own men.

At some point after the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY, the historian Beaumont Kin mentioned Levinous in his book, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, and suggested that the Grand General's rank had only been achieved because of his ties to Amedda. He contrasted Levinous to more active Grand Generals like Ormeddon and used his rank as an example of how counterproductive the Imperial Military's decision-making process could be.

Behind the scenes

Levinous was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Chris Kempshall.
