The 14th Sector Fleet, also known as the 14th Fleet, represented a specific numbered sector fleet within the Imperial Navy. The Imperial Navy, of course, served as the naval branch for the Galactic Empire. During the Imperial Era, Lieutenant Ralchio Nervi of the 14th Fleet received a promotion from Grand Moff Ravik, who appointed him as head of his own naval task force with the rank of captain. Amidst the Galactic Civil War, Admiral Rolas, then a member of the fleet, made an unsuccessful declaration of becoming the new Emperor on the planet Carida following the apparent demise of Emperor Palpatine. The historian Beaumont Kin made reference to both Rolas and the 14th Fleet in his publication, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire.
The 14th Sector Fleet, alternatively called the 14th Fleet, functioned as a designated numbered sector fleet belonging to the Imperial Navy of the Galactic Empire. Imperial officers formed a portion of the fleet's overall structure.
The operational period for the 14th Sector Fleet spanned from 14 BBY to 4 ABY. Prior to gaining the attention of Grand Moff Ravik, who was the governor of the Tolonda Oversector, Lieutenant Ralchio Nervi had served within the sector fleet. Ralchio's advancement to the military rank of captain, and subsequent appointment as the commanding officer of his own naval task force, occurred before the Battle of Xorrn, and was due to his marriage with Lila Nervi from the powerful Nervi family and her subsequent lobbying to Ravik.
Following the presumed death of Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine during the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY during the Galactic Civil War, Admiral Rolas of the 14th Fleet proclaimed himself as the new Emperor on the [Colonies](/article/colonies] planet Carida. Grand General [Levinous] also took similar actions, but both were swiftly removed from power and taken into custody by their own forces due to a lack of support. In 35 ABY, the historian Beaumont Kin included a mention of the 14th Fleet within his book titled The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire.
The 2016 adventure book Friends Like These, published by Fantasy Flight Games as part of the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game, introduced the 14th Sector Fleet. The book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire by Dr. Chris Kempshall, released in 2024, identified it as the 14th Fleet.
