Prie was a Force-sensitive individual who lived during the Republic Era. As a Jedi youngling, she resided in the Jedi crèche on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant alongside her friend Obi-Wan Kenobi, a fellow Jedi youngling. Prie continued developing her skills in the Force as a member of the Jedi Order, taking lessons alongside the trainees in her initiate clan, Kybuck Clan. Prie enjoyed playing pranks on others with her friends but also grew to dislike games and would attempt to cheat in them. Alongside her clan, she prepared to visit the planet Ilum in 49 BBY to acquire a kyber crystal for her lightsaber.
By 41 BBY, Prie was chosen as a Padawan by a Jedi Master who specialized in unarmed combat and Force-bonds with animals. She moved into shared quarters with her new Master and eagerly studied with him while in the Jedi Temple. In line with her Master's expertise, she spent most of her time serving on undeveloped worlds to protect new settlements and went on several missions.
In 41 BBY, Prie helped Kenobi remove a poisonous demon squid from his arm in the Temple's Padawan dining hall. Though her friend had wanted to harm the squid, Prie adored the creature and began communicating with it. Not long after, she shared another meal with her peers in the dining hall and discussed the argument that Kenobi's Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, had with the Jedi High Council. Prie comforted Kenobi's concerns about the matter, commenting that he could always be assigned to another Master for training if Jinn chose to leave the Jedi Order over the disagreement. In 40 BBY, Kenobi thought of Prie's encounter with a large horned beast while on one of her missions, envious of how interesting the experience seemed compared to his Jedi Archives trips.
The Force-sensitive individual Prie was a member of the Jedi Order during the Republic Era. She resided in shared quarters within the Jedi crèche on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi, a fellow Jedi youngling, and several other peers during her childhood. At some point, Prie was assigned to the initiate clan Kybuck Clan with Kenobi and fellow trainees Siri Tachi and Gehren Rand. Prie began further developing her skills in the Force from an early age, taking lessons with her peers and gaining a thirst for knowledge.
At one point, Prie and Kenobi took part in a lesson hosted by Jedi Master Yaddle, who quickly became annoyed at their childish antics. Prie also became friends with the Rodian youngling Bolla Ropal, an initiate assigned to a different training clan than her. While at the Jedi Temple, she engaged in several childish pranks with her friends, including stealing Ropal's favorite spoon. On one occasion, she and her clanmates also snuck down to the Temple's lower levels to swim in pools maintained for aquatic Jedi. Although Prie begrudgingly participated in rounds of hide-and-sense—a game in which a blindfolded individual attempted to sense and find their peers—she often tried to cheat and grew to dislike games. In 49 BBY, the younglings of Kybuck Clan prepared to travel to the sacred Jedi planet of Ilum for The Gathering to acquire kyber crystals for their lightsabers.
Prie was chosen as a Padawan by a Jedi Master who specialized in unarmed combat and Force-bonds with animals by 41 BBY. At her new Master's request, Prie moved into shared quarters with him that featured a Padawan room next to his bedchamber for ease of studying together. In line with her Master's expertise, she spent most of her time serving on undeveloped worlds to protect new settlements. Prie became passionately interested in both plant and animal life, taking the time to learn how to connect with creatures in the Force from her Master. She and her Master were sent on several missions, including an incident in which the Padawan rode a large horned beast. At some point, Prie procured a shell from her travels and gifted it to Kenobi. He chose to keep it as a memento and surmised that it may have been from a terrifying creature that Prie adored.
In 41 BBY, Prie visited the Padawan dining hall in the Coruscant Temple and sat at a table to share a meal with her friends. During their meal, Kenobi began panicking when a poisonous demon squid jumped out of his scalding-hot soup and latched itself onto the Padawan's arm, having been placed there as a joke by Ropal. As her friend pleaded for help to get rid of the creature, Prie immediately became delighted by the appearance of the demon squid and expressed her disapproval that Kenobi wanted to hurt it. As she came to his side of the table, Prie began gently stroking the demon squid, causing it to calm down and loosen its grip on Kenobi.
Prie delicately lifted the demon squid off her friend, allowing it to settle comfortably on her wrist. As she continued fawning over the creature, Kenobi confronted Ropal about putting the squid in his soup as a prank when the Rodian began laughing. Although Kenobi felt that the incident was embarrassing when confronted about it by his Jedi Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, Prie chided that her friend should have been more careful with the young demon squid as he could have hurt it. Kenobi was baffled, staring at his friend as the now docile demon squid nestled itself into the space between Prie's neck and shoulder. As Prie continued whispering comforting words to her new pet, Kenobi decided to leave the dining hall with his Master to meditate. Later that night, Kenobi reflected that he was appreciative of Prie's help with the demon squid earlier that day, citing her and her Master's affinity with animals as an extremely beneficial skill.
Not long after, Prie's Jedi Master informed his Padawan that Jinn had been arguing with the Jedi High Council. Less than a day later, she went to the Padawan dining hall and dined with several friends, including Ropal and Tachi. Prie passed on to the Padawans her Master's news about Jinn and then listened to Tachi as her peer steered the conversation to other topics. During their meal, Kenobi joined his friends and was confused when they immediately displayed concern for him. Prie informed Kenobi about his Master's recent argument with the Council, which shocked him.
Although Ropal teased Kenobi about the situation, Prie snapped at the Rodian to cease his joking. She gently assured her friend that if Jinn chose to leave the Jedi Order with his former Master, Count Dooku, he would be assigned to another Master to complete his training. Upset by the conversation, Kenobi quickly left the dining hall without saying goodbye to his friends. The following day, Kenobi revisited the dining hall and was disappointed that Prie and his other friends were not there. While on a mission to the Outer Rim planet Lenahra shortly after, Kenobi thought of Prie several times and how much she would have enjoyed engaging with the animals he encountered. He eventually began to regret embarking on the endeavor alone and missed the camaraderie shared with her and his other friends, acknowledging his fear of losing his closeness with his colleagues due to their assignment to separate Masters.
While at the Coruscant Temple in 40 BBY, Kenobi recalled that Prie told him a story of her travels that included riding a large horned beast. He felt that her experiences on missions were interesting adventures compared to his boring trips to the Temple's Jedi Archives.
From an early age, Prie maintained a sense of humor with her fellow initiates in lessons and often engaged in childish pranks and jokes with friends. However, as a youngling, she also grew to dislike games and often opted to attempt to cheat in them blatantly. Upon becoming a Padawan, Prie grew more passionate about pursuing her studies and was encouraged by her Master to pursue her interests in animal and plant life. As a pair, both Jedi worked well together on missions, often spending most of their time working on fauna-related issues. Prie's genuine happiness around and enthusiasm for animals often led her to engage with creatures others felt were scary, including a demon squid that Kenobi had been terrified of.
Prie had dark hair and brown eyes. As a Padawan, she kept the majority of her hair braided away from her face and the remaining strands woven into a Padawan braid.
Following her Master's expertise, Prie spent much of her time learning how to connect with fauna through the Force. Her natural affinity for working with animals allowed her to both calm them down and understand their intentions better.
While in the Coruscant Jedi Temple, Prie wore trousers.
Prie was first mentioned in Master & Apprentice, a 2019 novel written by Claudia Gray. She first appeared in the 2022 young-adult novel Padawan, by Kiersten White.
