Skirmish on Kashyyyk (Kyber Saber)

Prelude

Following the Battle of Hoth, the Galactic Empire blockaded the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk with a fleet commanded by the Imperial officers Lieutenant Commander Durpin and his aide Plumestriker They ruled the planet through their Trandoshan proxies. To keep the Wookiees in line, the Trandoshans kept Chief Attiburra's son Tantarra as a hostage at their island fortress. Unwilling to see any harm come to his son, Attiburra did not attack the Trandoshans.

Meanwhile, the Freemakers undertook a mission to Kashyyyk in order to obtain a piece of wroshyr wood from the wealthy Twi'lek captain Ignacio Wortan. The Freemakers were short on money to pay their rent and bills. Since the Wookiees spoke Shyriiwook,Kordi Freemaker considered renting a translator droid but decided not to since the RA-7 protocol droid on offer cost 20,000 credits. Despite Rowan's ability to speak some Shyriiwook, Kordi decided to install a translator chip inside their B1-series battle droid Roger.

The Freemakers managed to slip through the Imperial blockade and landed their starship StarScavenger in the jungles of Kashyyyk. Shortly later, they encountered Chief Attiburra and several Wookiees. Despite an initially hostile encounter which saw Attiburra ripping off Roger's head, Rowan managed to convince the Wookiees they were not a threat. Attiburra gave the Freemakers a piece of wroshyr wood but then told them rescue his son Tantarra in return. After some discussion, Kordi and Zander Freemaker reluctantly agreed to help Rowan rescue Attiburra's son from the Trandoshan island fortress.

The Skirmish

While Roger stayed behind to guard their starship StarScavenger, the other Freemakers traveled on speeder bikes under the cover of night to the Trandoshan island fortress. The Freemakers used an improvised catapult to land in the base. When confronted by Trandoshan guards, Kordi bluffed her way inside by claiming that they had come to repair the wooden panel for the main cell block. After freeing Tantarra, the Freemakers climbed the top of a tower to rendezvous with Roger. Zander also fired a flare gun which gave Attiburra and the Wookiees the signal to launch their attack.

Before they could leave, Rowan sensed the presence of a Kyber Saber crystal. Meanwhile, Durpin and Plumestriker arrived to investigate the intruders. After the Wookiees attacked the island fortress with Auzituck anti-slaver gunships, Roger was forced to abort the pick-up and fly the StarScavenger to a nearby landing. Amidst the fighting, the Freemakers and Tantarra made their way into a chamber full of Trandoshan statues.

Rowan found the Kyber Saber crystal in the eye of large statue. Tantarra managed to dislodge the crystal by hurling a Trandoshan warrior at it. After reuniting Tantarra with his father Attiburra, the Freemakers headed back to the StarScavenger. On the way, Kordi tripped behind a branch. Rowan and Zander arrived first only to be accosted by Durpin and Plumestriker. Before the Imperials could apprehend them, Kordi arrived and knocked them out with the wroshyr panel. However, the blow damaged the wood.

Aftermath

Due to the Freemakers' rescue of Tantarra, the Wookiees regained their hope and rose up against the Trandoshans. However, Kordi was unable to sell the wroshyr wood to Captain Ignacio Wortan due to its damaged condition. Meanwhile, Rowan informed Naare about the discovery of the third Kyber Saber crystal. Naare was pleased with her young apprentice since they had already found two Kyber Saber crystals.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Commander Durpin and his aide Plumestriker escape punishment for the debacle on Kashyyyk. Blaming the Trandoshans, Darth Vader instead promoted Durpin to General under the rationale that a high rank would give him more manpower and resources to deal with the Freemakers.
