In the year 22 BBY, a significant Knighting Ceremony was conducted by the Jedi Order. This event served to elevate a number of experienced Padawans to the esteemed rank of Jedi Knight. The Jedi required a larger number of Knights because the recently initiated Clone Wars had placed them in the role of commanding officers within the Galactic Republic's new clone army, fighting against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. This ceremony occurred within the training ground of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, and formally recognized individuals such as Anakin Skywalker, Olana Chion, Keer Stenwyt, Cyruss Okent, and D'urban Wen-Hurd as Jedi Knights, even though Skywalker had previously received that distinction, leading him to view the event as a time consuming exercise. Also present was Padawan Iskat Akaris, who was unexpectedly promoted to knighthood following the unfortunate passing of her master, Sember Vey, during the rescue mission that took place on Geonosis. Akaris' promotion coincided with those of Onielle, Zeeth, Charlin Plaka, and Tualon Yaluna, all of whom were Padawans she had spent her formative years alongside.
Grand Master Yoda and Jedi Master Mace Windu presided over the event, which was attended by the new Knights' former instructors, other Padawans, younglings, and members of the Jedi High Council. In addition, Senators and Republic Military officers were in attendance. Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine had intended to be present, but he was only able to appear as a hologram due to news of a recent bombing that occurred on the neutral planet Cato Neimoidia.
The initial depiction of Anakin Skywalker's Knighting Ceremony as a Jedi Knight was in the 2022 novel titled Brotherhood, which was authored by Mike Chen.
