The Jedi Temple's training courtyard served as a practice area within the Jedi Temple located on the planet Coruscant. It facilitated Jedi training, encompassing the instruction of younglings. Notably, it housed an ancient tree that resonated with the power of the Force. Following the ascent of the Galactic Empire, the Emperor, also known as Darth Sidious, repurposed the Jedi Temple into the Imperial Palace, leading to the tree's removal.
This training area existed as a courtyard within the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Positioned near the central spire of the temple, it provided a space for the education of Jedi, including younglings. A significant feature was the ancient tree at its center, deeply connected to the Force.

During the period of the Clone Wars, the training courtyard was the location where younglings received instruction. Jedi Master Tera Sinube was teaching a class of younglings when a lightsaber duel erupted between Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and the renegade Padawan Barriss Offee. Skywalker was attempting to apprehend Offee after discovering her involvement in the bombing of the Jedi Temple. Offee's actions stemmed from her belief that the Jedi High Council had become corrupted due to their leadership of the Grand Army of the Republic in the conflict. Skywalker disarmed Offee and used the Force to telekinetically hurl her into the ancient tree, leading to her capture.
Later, Skywalker engaged in a conversation with Grand Master Yoda in the courtyard concerning Yoda's belief that he was communicating with the deceased Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Skywalker, who briefly perceived Jinn's disembodied voice through the Force, expressed doubt. However, Yoda remained convinced and embarked on a journey to uncover the secrets of retaining consciousness after death. As part of this pursuit, he experienced a vision of a peaceful Jedi Order, untouched by war. This vision placed him in the Jedi Temple training ground, where he witnessed numerous Jedi, including those who had perished and those who had succumbed to the dark side of the Force, interacting harmoniously. Upon returning to the Jedi Temple, Yoda shared his experiences with fellow Jedi Council members Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi, expressing uncertainty about the Jedi Order's ability to prevail in the Clone Wars.
The conclusion of the Clone Wars brought about the destruction of the Jedi Order at the hands of the Sith. After proclaiming himself Emperor and transforming the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire, the Sith Lord Darth Sidious converted the Jedi Temple into the Imperial Palace. He had the ancient tree removed from the courtyard. Over two decades later, its two remaining fragments were discovered in an Imperial research lab on Vetine. These fragments were retrieved by Luke Skywalker, the last known Jedi Knight and son of Anakin Skywalker, and Lieutenant Shara Bey of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Skywalker retained one fragment for himself and gifted the other to Bey, who planted it outside her home on Yavin 4.

The training courtyard made its initial appearance in "The Wrong Jedi," an episode from the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Andre Kirk created the concept art for the training ground, including the ancient tree, in 2011.
