Olana Chion

During the Clone Wars, a human Jedi Knight named Olana Chion served both the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. She was promoted to the rank of Knight relatively early in the war, alongside Anakin Skywalker and others, and she remained in service nearly until the end of the conflict. In 19 BBY, not long before the war concluded, Chion was present at a briefing within the Jedi Temple, departing just as Skywalker arrived.

Biography

Olana Chion was elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight within the Jedi Order in 22 BBY, during a mass Knighting Ceremony. This event took place in the Jedi Temple's training courtyard weeks following the beginning of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. This promotion, shared by Chion, Anakin Skywalker, D'urban Wen-Hurd, Keer Stenwyt, Cyruss Okent, Iskat Akaris, and several others, was expedited due to the pressing needs of the ongoing war.

The conclusion of the ceremony faced an interruption when Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine of the Republic announced an attack on Cato Neimoidia, a neutral planet. Consequently, the newly appointed Jedi Knights were invited to join the more experienced Knights and Jedi Masters in a discussion regarding the situation. On the subsequent day, Chion, along with most of the other new Knights, attended a reception held in their honor within Palpatine's office.

As the Clone Wars neared its end in 19 BBY, Chion participated in a briefing at the Jedi Temple. This briefing, led by Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, addressed the state of the Outer Rim Sieges occurring on planets such as Boz Pity and Saleucami. Chion exited the briefing room at the time that Skywalker was entering, resulting in the two Jedi Knights passing one another in the hallway. Only a few days later, the war reached its conclusion.

Olana Chion's initial appearance within the current Star Wars canon occurred in the 2005 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, where she was portrayed as a Jedi extra by Dominique Chionchio. Her identification as Chion was first established in the 2022 novel, Brotherhood, authored by Mike Chen. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, O-Lana made her debut in The Fight for Truth, the ninth novel in the _Jedi Apprentice junior novel series, penned by Jude Watson and released in 2000.[8] Her full name, Olana Chion, was later confirmed and retroactively applied to the film extra in a "What's The Story?" entry[9] primarily written by Ian Tapley, who derived Chion's surname from that of Chionchio. The entry about Chion, submitted during the fourth round of the contest, was published on February 3, 2006[10] on StarWars.com's Hyperspace feature.[7]
