Avinoam Arelis was a youthful male Human Jedi Knight who was stationed at the new Jedi Temple situated on Coruscant.
Arelis, together with his Jedi colleague Jaden Korr, were assisting the Jedi Leia Organa Solo, Han Solo, and the Jedi Tekli in smuggling the four Jedi who were receiving treatment for Force psychosis. This smuggling operation took place through a lower level hangar within the Temple Precinct. This hangar, which overlooked the Krabbis Inn, was under observation by a group of Mandalorians. These Mandalorians had been hired by Chief of State Natasi Daala to monitor the Jedi's activities.
When the Mandalorians initiated an attack on the hangar by opening fire, Arelis and Korr joined forces with the Solos to defend it. Simultaneously, the other Jedi Knights were assisting Bazel Warv, Natua Wan, Seff Hellin, and Yaqeel Saav'etu in moving into FloatVans for transport to the Jedi Academy situated on Shedu Maad. Following the conclusion of the battle, Arelis and Korr remained behind to conceal the destruction caused by the now-deceased warriors, while the other Jedi made their escape.
In the year 44 ABY, Arelis, accompanied by fellow Jedi Knight Sothais Saar, was dispatched to Blaudu Sextus by the Jedi Council. Their mission was to mediate the Octusi revolt. However, upon arriving in the capital city of Arari, they discovered that Mandalorians under the command of Belok Rhal were engaged in the slaughter of the Octusi, prompting them to intervene. During this conflict, Arelis and Saar forced their way into a building where reporter Madhi Vaandt and her news crew had been hiding, reporting the ongoing events live. Although Arelis and Saar arrived too late to prevent Vaandt's murder by Rhal, they successfully captured her killer.
