Big String was an amphibious alien species member. During the Galactic Empire's imperial era, this individual functioned as a crime lord. They established a fortress on the planet Amethia Prime, situated within the Inner Rim territories. Some time elapsed, and then Chanath Cha, a bounty hunter, was contracted by someone to obliterate Big String's fortress and capture the crime boss. Cha succeeded, forcing Big String to escape. However, Cha overtook String, seized them, and ascended to cloud level. Subsequently, Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine contacted Cha, leading her to release Big String from that significant altitude.
Big String, an amphibian alien, operated as a crime boss during the Galactic Empire's reign. Their illicit activities generated substantial credits. They erected a fortress on the Inner Rim planet Amethia Prime, specifically on a cluster of small volcanic islands within a purple ocean. The construction of the fortress spanned two decades (cycles), employing numerous individuals, including a minimum of three bodyguards. However, after the Battle of Yavin, a disgruntled individual engaged the services of Chanath Cha, a renowned bounty hunter, to dismantle Big String's "empire" and seize the crime boss.
Shortly thereafter, Cha invaded the fortress, killing the vast majority of String's personnel, and utilized her armor and rocket boots to unleash destruction upon the fortress. String fled in a boat accompanied by three guards to evade Cha. As they traversed the water, the fortress underwent a complete explosion, effectively obliterating String's "empire". Subsequently, one of the guards inquired whether String desired to return to the fortress in search of survivors, to which String responded: "Don't be and idiot. Drive." Cha then materialized alongside the boat underwater, maintaining speed with her rocket boots.
Before String could react, Cha propelled herself through the bow of the boat, capsizing it, destroying its engine, and ejecting String and the guards into the water. They clambered back onto the boat, and Cha introduced herself to the crime boss, promptly overpowering the three guards in hand-to-hand combat. String, recognizing the limited options, surrendered to the bounty hunter and relinquished their blaster rifle. Cha hoisted String by their belt and ascended to the cloud level of Amenthia Prime's atmosphere, where String implored Cha, offering a higher payment than her current contract in exchange for freedom. However, Cha declined, and soon received a communication from Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine—the most recognizable man in the galaxy—who had a job for the bounty hunter. Consequently, Cha apologized to String and released the crime boss, prioritizing the Emperor's assignment.

Big String made their initial appearance as a minor antagonist in the 2015 Marvel Comics story Star Wars: Lando. The story was penned by Charles Soule, illustrated by Alex Maleev, and colored by Paul Mounts.
