Bor Ifriem functioned as an interrogator for the Galactic Empire, and was a member of the Mairan species. In the vicinity of 1 ABY, this bor was deployed to interrogate Chelli Aphra, a prisoner held within the wreckage-prison known as Accresker Jail. The mental torturing inflicted by Bor Ifriem ultimately compelled Aphra to reveal the presence of the fungus called gundravian hookspores within the prison.
As a consequence, the Empire abandoned Accresker Jail, leaving Bor Ifriem in a partially frozen state. Soon after, the Sith Lord Darth Vader initiated a search for Aphra's associate, Magna Tolvan, who was aboard the wreckage-prison. This search was prompted by Tolvan's revelation of a conspiracy concerning the Sith that Aphra had shared with her. Subsequently, Tolvan manipulated Aphra into using Bor Ifriem to alter her memories, making her believe she had killed her partner. Following this, the bor met its death.
During the era of the Galactic Civil War, Bor Ifriem was one of three bors of the semi-sentient Mairan species utilized by the Galactic Empire for interrogation purposes. When not actively employed, the bor was preserved in ice through the use of a coolant grille. Around 1 ABY, Bor Ifriem was thawed at the Imperial wreckage-prison Accresker Jail to interrogate Chelli Aphra, who was referred to as "Joystick Chevron" by the Imperial staff. An interrogation officer and his lieutenant at the prison discovered that Aphra was concealing significant information. Because Aphra was resisting their probes, the lead interrogation officer decided to escalate the torture.

After Bor Ifriem was released from the ice, Aphra became the subject of the creature's interrogation. The interrogation officer commented that the bor seemed to like her. The creature enveloped Aphra with its tentacles and began to probe her mind, feeding on her resistance. The interrogation officer boasted to "Joystick Chevron" about the Mairan's "emotional flagellation" abilities. Bor Ifriem subjected Aphra to flashbacks of her most guilt-ridden and shameful actions, with the officer stating that confession was the only escape.
Aphra attempted to deter the interrogation officer and his lieutenant by claiming she was thinking about her mother. Consequently, the officer threatened to have Bor Ifriem erase or rewrite her memories of her mum, the Mairan creating illusions of her mother in alternate realities within Aphra's mind. Aphra slowly began to confess, with more visions of her past surfacing. Finally, she admitted that a colony of the highly contagious fungus gundravian hookspores was spreading throughout Accresker Jail, which the lieutenant confirmed to be true.
Upon discovering the hookspores, the Empire decided to decommission Accresker Jail and set it on a collision course with Tiferep Major, a planet sympathetic to the Rebel Alliance. Bor Ifriem was left behind, improperly frozen, when the Imperial personnel of Accresker Jail's prison-tug abandoned the cruiser and allowed it to crash into the wreckage-prison. While breaking into the wreckage of the prison-tug, Aphra and her companions, "Lopset Yas," Magna Tolvan, and Sana Starros, found the bor partially buried in an ice-block, which Tolvan deemed "sloppy work".

As a final measure, Tolvan convinced the Sith Lord Darth Vader to come to Accresker Jail after informing him via comm that she knew of his conspiracy to replace Emperor Palpatine, information she had received from Aphra. Vader temporarily halted the wreckage-prison's collision course using the tractor beam of his flagship, the Executor, and boarded Accresker Jail in search of Tolvan. Fearing Vader's wrath, Aphra led Tolvan to Bor Ifriem, requesting that Tolvan erase her knowledge of Vader's conspiracy using the bor.
However, Tolvan persuaded Aphra to have her own memory altered by Bor Ifriem, making her believe she had killed Aphra in order to remove Vader's trail to Aphra. Aphra complied, using the bor on Tolvan. After Tolvan's memory was altered, Aphra left her for Vader, while killing Bor Ifriem. When the Sith Lord found Tolvan, he was deceived by her fabricated account of events. After leaving Accresker Jail, he allowed the wreckage-prison to be released from the tractor beam and crash into Tiferep Major with the deceased Bor Ifriem aboard.
Bor Ifriem's initial appearance was in the comic Doctor Aphra (2016) 21, penned by Si Spurrier, illustrated by Kev Walker, and released by Marvel Comics on June 27, 2018. His identification followed in the subsequent issue, which was also written and illustrated by the same individuals and published on July 25 of that year.
