Cabuck

Lomi Usqi Noodle Shop's proprietor and bartender was Cabuck, residing on the world of Ueda. He was present in 132 BBY when the assassin, Mae-ho Aniseya, entered his establishment. He observed her confronting Jedi Master Indara, remaining behind the bar as they engaged in combat throughout his noodle shop. He inadvertently attracted their attention by creating a sound, leading Aniseya to hurl a knife in his direction.

The Force was used by Indara to halt the knife before it struck Cabuck; however, this momentary lapse allowed Aniseya to launch another knife, piercing the Jedi's chest and resulting in her death. Aniseya then moved towards a surrendering Cabuck at the bar, preparing to strike, but she noticed Cabuck's child, Cabuck Junior, clinging to the bartender's leg. Consequently, she spared him and departed the establishment.

In the aftermath of the murder investigation, the Jedi Order escorted Cabuck to the Trade Federation freighter known as the Fallon. There, he mistakenly identified Aniseya's twin sister, Verosha Aniseya, as the perpetrator.

Biography

An onlooker behind the bar

Cabuck was at the bar when Mae-ho Aniseya entered his shop.

As an alien, Cabuck was both the owner and bartender of the Lomi Usqi Noodle Shop, a somewhat dilapidated restaurant situated near the gate of a village on the [world](/article/planet] of Ueda. Acting as his own employer, he sometimes brought his young child, Cabuck Junior, to his workplace, ensuring a steady supply of noodles for his clientele. In the year 132 BBY, while working behind the bar, the assassin Mae-ho Aniseya entered, seeking Jedi Master Indara. Cabuck watched Aniseya with suspicion as she surveyed the room, but he returned to his duties as she approached Indara, who was seated at a table with several other patrons.

With the intention of killing the Jedi, Aniseya demanded a fight, attacking the patrons seated with her target when Indara refused. Cabuck remained behind the bar, observing as Aniseya subdued the other patrons. Indara then engaged the assassin. As the eatery's customers fled, Cabuck remained partially crouched behind the bar, recoiling when Aniseya leaped past him towards the building's upper level. Indara pursued Aniseya, and their fight continued until Cabuck inadvertently drew their attention by making a noise from behind the counter.

A witness to a homicide

Cabuck was saved from Mae-ho Aniseya's knife by Master Indara, who used the Force to freeze it in mid-air.

Cabuck glanced upwards at the two combatants but did not attempt to flee as Aniseya launched a throwing knife towards the bartender's head. Indara used the Force to stop the blade mid-air, just inches from Cabuck's face. This distraction, however, allowed Aniseya to throw another blade, piercing Indara's chest and mortally wounding her. As the Jedi Master collapsed, the blade in front of Cabuck fell from the air onto the counter, causing him to gasp. After witnessing Indara's final moments, Aniseya approached the bar as Cabuck retreated, raising his hands in surrender.

Aniseya retrieved the blade she had thrown at Cabuck and raised it again to throw at the bartender, but she paused upon hearing whimpering from beneath the bar. Both Aniseya and Cabuck looked down to find Cabuck Junior, clutching at the barkeeper's leg and whimpering. Cabuck gently placed his hand on his child's head, while Aniseya hesitated, then turned away and left the noodle shop. The bartender looked up to see her leave and then turned to tend to his child.

An error in identification

Cabuck mistakenly accused Verosha Aniseya of Indara's murder.

During the Jedi Order's investigation into Indara's death, the Jedi erroneously believed that Aniseya's identical twin, Verosha Aniseya, was responsible for the murder. This belief stemmed from the assassin's physical description, as Mae-ho was presumed to have died years prior. Verosha was employed as a meknek on the Trade Federation freighter Fallon. Jedi Knight Yord Fandar and his Padawan Tasi Lowa brought Cabuck aboard the freighter to confirm her identity.

After the Jedi confronted Verosha at her bunk, Lowa fetched Cabuck and brought him to her. The bartender immediately pointed to Verosha, identifying her as Indara's killer, and complained that she had ruined his bar. The Jedi then arrested Verosha for the murder and transferred her to the DTE-CSA-17 Calaboose prison ship Palwick for transport to the planet Coruscant to stand trial.

Personality and characteristics

Cabuck did not run from the conflict in his eatery, but he surrendered when Mae-ho approached. He later confidently misidentified her identical twin as Mae-ho. The bartender possessed wide-set green eyes, brown skin, and a chest-length beard of graying brown hair. His height was 1.93 meters.

Gear

Cabuck wore black shirt and pants, complemented by a brown bandolier and apron.
