Clan Beviin

Clan Beviin was a Mandalorian clan that existed around the period of the Yuuzhan Vong War. After Goran Beviin and Medrit Vasur entered into marriage, the two male Mandalorians established their home at the Beviin-Vasur farm situated on Mandalore, a distance of ten kilometers from Keldabe, the capital city of that world found in the Outer Rim. Vasur's occupation was as a blacksmith, while Beviin worked as a bounty hunter, and they both supplemented their income by jointly managing their farm. During the conflict with the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong, Beviin joined the Mandalorian Protectors under the leadership of Mand'alor Boba Fett to fight against the invaders, eventually adopting fellow Mandalorian Dinua Jeban following the death of her mother, Briika, during a battle against the Yuuzhan Vong. Following the end of the war and the defeat of the Yuuzhan Vong, Jeban remained living with her adoptive parents at their Mandalore farm. Eventually, she encountered and married Jintar, a Mandalorian soldier, and together they had two children: a son named Shalk and a daughter named Briila. By the time the Second Galactic Civil War began, a conflict between the Galactic Alliance and the Confederation, the Beviin clan had welcomed Mand'alor Fett to reside with them at the Beviin-Vasur farm as he attempted to reconnect with the culture and people he had been separated from for most of his life.

History

Clan Beviin was a Mandalorian clan that resided on the planet of Mandalore. After the marriage between Goran Beviin and Medrit Vasur, these two Mandalorian men established their home together on a farm that both men co-owned, located ten kilometers away from Keldabe, the capital city of Mandalore. The couple jointly managed the farm, although Vasur, an educated metallurgist, also worked as a blacksmith, and Beviin, a veteran soldier, took on mercenary work to supplement their earnings.

In the year 25 ABY, Beviin and Vasur's farm experienced a difficult season, compelling Beviin to accept jobs he would typically decline, including an assassination contract on a politician from Ter Abbes, offered by an individual known as Udelen. In reality, Udelen was the Yuuzhan Vong scout Nom Anor, who, through Beviin, managed to contract numerous Mandalorian mercenaries in preparation for the Yuuzhan Vong's invasion of the galaxy. During the war against the extra-galactic invaders, Beviin fought alongside Boba Fett, the reigning Mand'alor. Publicly, the Mandalorian soldiers had allied themselves with the Yuuzhan Vong, but secretly, they aimed to sabotage their efforts and gather intelligence covertly. During the attack on New Holgha, Beviin confronted a Yuuzhan Vong subaltern named Bur'lorr to rescue a Jedi agent from New Republic Intelligence who could receive the information the Mandalorians had collected. Although he succeeded in killing the Yuuzhan Vong warrior using a pair of crushgaunts he possessed, Beviin's Mandalorian comrade Briika Jeban was fatally wounded in the skirmish. Having made her a promise months prior, upon her death, Beviin adopted Jeban's orphaned daughter, Dinua, welcoming her into his clan.

Beviin and his adopted daughter both continued to fight against the Yuuzhan Vong during the war, and Beviin participated in the defense of Mandalore when the aliens attacked the Mandalorian homeworld. After the war concluded, Jeban came to live with Beviin and Vasur at their farm. She later met and married Jintar, a Mandalorian soldier, and the Beviin clan expanded as the couple had two children, a daughter named Briila and a son named Shalk.

By 40 ABY, the Beviin clan had begun hosting Mand'alor Boba Fett at their farm. Fett, who considered Goran Beviin one of his few friends, lived on his starship, Slave I, but occasionally joined the family for meals at their house. As the Second Galactic Civil War erupted between the Galactic Alliance and the Confederation, Jintar sought mercenary work in the conflict; he was injured while away and returned to the clan shortly after. By 41 ABY, Clan Beviin continued to offer hospitality not only to Fett but also to Fett's estranged wife, Sintas Vel, who was recovering from blindness and amnesia after being frozen in carbonite for decades. Around the same time, Jaina Solo, a Jedi Knight, arrived on Mandalore seeking Fett's help in capturing or killing her Sith Lord brother, Darth Caedus. As a favor to Fett, Beviin allowed Solo and Vel to stay with his clan at their farm. Beviin later assisted in training Solo in Mandalorian fighting techniques, while his husband Medrit helped care for the recovering Vel.

Behind the scenes

The initial glimpses of Clan Beviin appeared in the 2006 e-novella Boba Fett: A Practical Man, penned by author Karen Traviss. In this work, Traviss introduced Goran Beviin, his spouse Medrit, and their adopted daughter, Dinua Jeban, into the Star Wars universe. Beviin reappeared in Traviss's first contribution to the multi-author novel series, Star Wars: Legacy of the Force, titled Bloodlines, but Clan Beviin was fully featured in her second Legacy of the Force novel, Sacrifice. Medrit was revealed to be Beviin's husband, establishing one of the first gay couples in the Star Wars franchise. Sacrifice also reintroduced an adult Dinua Jeban, her own husband Jintar, and their two young children, Briika and Shalk, to Clan Beviin. The entire clan was featured again in Traviss's third Legacy of the Force novel, titled Revelation.
