The Dantooine confrontation involved Revan, a Jedi Padawan, along with his comrades, facing off against Sherruk, the leader of the Mandalorian forces. Following their defeat in the Mandalorian Wars, these Mandalorians established a mercenary presence on Dantooine during the Jedi Civil War. Their numbers, bolstered by Duros allies, proved overwhelming, leading to widespread looting and the deaths of settlers. The Jedi Enclave on Dantooine acknowledged the situation as unfortunate, but refrained from direct intervention, which compelled the settler Jon to repeatedly implore the Council for assistance.
Jon found assistance when Padawan Revan (fresh from re-training under Jedi Master Zhar Lestin) stepped in to help. He engaged and triumphed over three separate Mandalorian squads before ultimately confronting and eliminating Sherruk and his remaining troops in battle.
Having survived their defeat during the Mandalorian Wars, members of the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders dispersed across the galaxy, seeking employment as either assassins or hired mercenaries. Individuals such as Canderous Ordo resorted to this line of work for survival. A group of Mandalorians, led by Sherruk, took up residence on Dantooine sometime after the war, engaging in the pillaging of property and the killing of settlers, often alongside their Duros associates. In the Ancient Grove, two Mandalorians, Reeza and Jarg, met their end when they encountered Juhani, the Dark Jedi who had taken refuge there.
The settler Jon's daughter, Ilsa, was also murdered by Sherruk's mercenaries when they raided his home. In response, Jon sought assistance from the Jedi Order at their enclave, but received little support. The Council considered the raids regrettable but took minimal action to counter the Mandalorian presence. Sherruk, however, did engage some Jedi in combat, claiming their lightsabers as trophies after killing them. This ongoing situation fueled growing frustration among the settlers regarding the Jedi's inaction.
While at the Jedi Enclave, Jon encountered Revan, the Jedi Padawan (and former Sith Lord) who had recently undergone re-training with Jedi Master Zhar Lestin. Jon voiced his discontent with the Jedi's passivity and pleaded with Revan to aid him and the other settlers in eliminating the Mandalorian threat. Revan agreed to assist Jon, who advised him to eliminate the Mandalorian leader to end their reign of terror.
Revan located and defeated three separate Mandalorian units, each comprised of mercenaries and their Duros accomplices, in different locations. In one instance, a man attempted to bribe the Mandalorians for his life but was killed regardless. Mandalorians were also seen near the Sandral Estate as well as close to the Ancient Grove.
Later, Revan confronted Sherruk, the leader of the mercenaries, who saw an opportunity to add another lightsaber to his collection. However, Revan and his two companions prevailed against Sherruk and his forces, temporarily ending the Mandalorian presence on Dantooine.
Jon expressed his gratitude for Revan's help and, despite Revan's objections, offered him a small reward for his efforts.
Although the Mandalorians vanished from Dantooine for a period, a small contingent returned during the Dark Wars around 3951 BBY to support Azkul and his mercenaries in the battle for Khoonda. Dillan reminded Meetra Surik of the Mandalorian presence upon her arrival on the planet, mentioning that a Jedi had been responsible for stopping their destructive activities before the planet was attacked.
