Corellian rum was a variety of rum suitable for human consumption, taking its designation from the planet of Corellia. The year 4 ABY saw Owerto Naiucho, a smuggler, attribute his facial scarring to an accident involving a camping stove, which he claimed occurred while intoxicated on Corellian rum. The subsequent year, on Chandrila, Sinjir Rath Velus, a former Imperial loyalty officer, contemplated asking the rebel leader Han Solo if he possessed any Corellian rum in his apartment for his personal enjoyment.
During his time as a smuggler, Owerto Naiucho obtained multiple facial scars and began to disseminate varying accounts of their origin. In 4 ABY, Naiucho informed Norra Wexley, a rebel pilot, that his facial disfigurement resulted from a drunken fall onto a hot camping stove after consuming Corellian rum. Wexley doubted this story, given the number of different versions she had previously heard.
The following year, Sinjir Rath Velus, formerly a loyalty officer within the Imperial ranks, found himself on the Core World planet of Chandrila. He was visiting the apartment shared by Leia Organa and Han Solo, leaders of the rebellion, while Solo was present. As Velus and his comrades discussed a strategy to retrieve two team members stranded on Jakku, a planet in the Outer Rim, Velus briefly considered inquiring about the availability of Corellian rum within Solo's residence. However, upon Organa's entrance into the room, he refrained from making the request.
The new Star Wars canon first mentioned Corellian rum in Aftermath, a 2015 novel authored by Chuck Wendig and the initial book in The Aftermath Trilogy. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, Corellian rum debuted in the 1994 novel The Courtship of Princess Leia, penned by Dave Wolverton.
