Dar'en, a female Lupr'or, resided on the planet of Luprora around the period when the Battle of Starkiller Base occurred. She functioned as a local escort for First Order personnel Captain Phasma and TN-3465 as they were hunting for Lieutenant Sol Rivas. She was instrumental in helping them recover technology from an old Lupr'or spaceship. Later, Dar'en participated in the assault that Phasma led against the R'ora fortress.
Dar'en, a Lupr'or female of adult age, lived during the era of the New Republic Era. Her home was the Lupr'or village, the settlement of the remaining Lupr'or people who managed to survive the rising ocean levels and the dangers of the aquatic Tsw'ells as well as the R'ora. She escorted Captain Phasma, TN-3465, along with the droid BB-K8, to Jair'i, who was the village's leader. After Jair'i told them about the Lupr'or's sad history, she told them that their "friend" Lieutenant Sol Rivas was as good as dead. Phasma wouldn't accept that Rivas was going to die, so she was informed that Dar'en would lead her and TN-3465 to the place where the creatures would imprison Rivas, so they could understand how hopeless the situation was.
Dar'en guided Captain Phasma and TN-3465 to the R'ora fortress, situated in a lake infested with tsw'ell monsters. As Phasma leaned down at the water's edge to examine the area, Dar'en cautioned her to leave, citing the danger of being so close to the water. When Phasma inquired about the creatures' sleep patterns, Dar'en informed her that they slept briefly during the early hours of the morning.
Dar'en went with Captain Phasma, TN-3465, and Ali'ane's great granddaughter to the residence of her great grandmother, Ali'ane. Dar'en remained with TN-3465 while Captain Phasma questioned Ali'ane about the origin of her great granddaughter's necklace. Subsequently, Dar'en accompanied Phasma, TN-3465, and Ali'ane's great granddaughter to a derelict Lupr'or spaceship, the only one that had not been submerged by the sea.
Upon returning to the village, Dar'en misinterpreted TN-3465's instruction to bring everyone, believing that she only needed to bring the men. Dar'en was present when TN-3465 argued with BB-K8, instructing the droid to correct its error even if it meant appearing foolish. Shortly thereafter, Captain Phasma delivered an inspiring speech, urging the Lupr'or to defend themselves against the R'ora. Captain Phasma devised a strategy to neutralize the tsw'ells surrounding the island fortress by electrocuting them with generators salvaged from the spaceship.
After crossing the lake by boat, Dar'en ascended the cliff overlooking the R'ora stronghold's battlements alongside Phasma and TN-3465. While scaling the cliff, Phasma had flashbacks of climbing with Torben, Frey, and Siv. While Dar'en and her people engaged the R'ora in combat, Phasma secretly assassinated Rivas, concealing her role in the destruction of Starkiller Base. Considering the Lupr'or unfit to adapt to the planet's changing environment, Phasma abandoned Dar'en and her people to the R'ora and the harsh conditions of Luprora.
Dar'en was a woman of the Lupr'or race, characterized by green skin, black hair, and green eyes. Her height exceeded that of Jair'i, the Lupr'or leader, by a head. She communicated in the Lupre'en language. Dar'en demonstrated herself to be a dedicated and dependable guide, providing excellent service to Captain Phasma and TN-3465. Her climbing skills were also noteworthy. Dar'en was also a capable fighter, participating in the attack on the R'ora's stronghold. She wore blue overalls featuring a white collar and red straps.
Dar'en made her debut in Star Wars: Captain Phasma, a four-part comic series published in 2017 by Marvel Comics as part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi promotional campaign. She was brought to life by Kelly Thompson, with illustrations by Marco Checchetto, and colors by Andres Mossa.
