Several Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptors, painted black, were utilized by the Sith Lord Darth Vader as his personal starfighter during the initial years of the Galactic Empire's reign.
Darth Vader's third interceptor, notably distinguished by its color absence, was accompanied by a silver-colored astromech droid. Furthermore, being his personal craft, he possessed the capability to remotely prepare the starfighter through his armor.
One interceptor met its end fourteen years prior to the Battle of Yavin when Vader ejected from the cockpit and directed it to crash into a hijacked Imperial freighter in the vicinity of Yaga Minor; the vehicle was almost entirely disintegrated upon impact.
Shortly thereafter, Vader piloted another interceptor on a mission to Ryloth before returning it to the Perilous in an attempt to stop a group of saboteurs. Ultimately, the Perilous was destroyed, taking Vader's interceptor with it.
During the mission to Murkhana undertaken by Vader and Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, the hijacking of the Carrion Spike by insurgents led them to contact Belderone and Coruscant. They requested the deployment of the Liberator to Nam Chorios, where they boarded the Star Destroyer and left the temporarily-borrowed Parsec Predator. Subsequently, Vader and Tarkin arranged for the Goliath to relocate from its deepdock at Ord Mantell and deliver Vader's current starfighter.
Upon the Goliath's arrival, Vader departed the Liberator and proceeded to the support carrier's starfighter bay, where his personal ship was located, to undertake repairs for several issues resulting from the hyperspace jump from Ord Mantell, with the assistance of his astromech. When Tarkin accurately predicted the insurgents' next destination, Vader, piloting his Eta-2 Actis as "Yellow One," led a squadron of eleven Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighters and engaged the Carrion Spike in the Phindar system, with the hyperdrive generator as their primary target. Despite Vader and Tarkin's best efforts, the fugitive corvette successfully escaped into hyperspace. Vader then returned to the Goliath, left his starfighter on the escort carrier, and boarded the Executrix with Tarkin.
