Jedi Fallen Order - Dark Temple 1

As a prelude to Jedi: Fallen Order, the forthcoming third-person action-adventure Star Wars game from Lucasfilm and Respawn Entertainment, DARK TEMPLE chronicles the perilous mission undertaken by Jedi Master ENO CORDOVA and his headstrong Padawan, CERE JUNDA. The Jedi Council dispatches them to Ontotho, a distant world, to oversee the tranquil excavation of a newly discovered enigmatic temple. However, they will discover that the temple's surroundings present a greater threat than the mysteries concealed within. A clandestine local resistance and merciless corporate security forces are engaged in a conflict for control of Ontotho, with the Jedi caught in the crossfire!

Set around 14 BBY, on the forested planet named Ontotho, a contingent of stormtroopers advances against the planet's remaining resistance stronghold, accompanied by a masked Inquisitor. When questioned about certain rumors, the Commander initially dismisses them. However, after the Inquisitor persists, the Commander recounts that a trooper, now deceased, claimed to have witnessed a lightsaber. Based on this new information, the Inquisitor orders a ceasefire and proceeds forward with a pair of Purge Troopers, intending to capture a member of the remaining resistance fighters. Shortly thereafter, the resistance ceases firing upon the approaching Imperial group, leading the Inquisitor to believe that one of them is advancing towards their position.

In earlier times, Jedi Master Eno Cordova and his Padawan, Cere Junda, are in the process of mediating a disagreement while stationed on Nameel. Cere attempts to exert some force as neither side of the dispute shows any willingness to compromise. Eno apologizes for the conduct of his Padawan and suggests that they engage in separate conversations with each group to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issue. Cere reminds her master that their purpose is to resolve a dispute, not to study the Dupei monks involved. Eno justifies his actions as ultimately beneficial in resolving the conflict, before requesting Cere to maintain composure while he converses with the monks.

Cere is left to interact with the other party in the dispute, a group of Trandoshans who taunt her with language that the group's translator droid declines to translate. A couple of the Trandoshans begin to argue, prompting Cere to intervene by tackling one of the aggressors to the ground. The droid informs her that she has interfered in a challenge to Warlord Vurrsk's authority, resulting in disrespect. The Trandoshans cease their internal conflict and turn their attention to Cere as she engages in combat with the group. Eno reappears to explain that the monks initiated the dispute, before realizing what his apprentice has done. Acknowledging her error, Cere apologizes, and the two Jedi return to Coruscant.

Before the Jedi Council, Cere provides an explanation for her actions as the council members listen attentively. Master Yoda inquires further about his padawan's actions from Eno, but he simply supports his apprentice in response. Master Windu characterizes the situation as complex before transitioning to Eno and Cere's upcoming assignment. They are to travel to Ontotho, which recently joined the Republic, to assist the planet's agreement with the Daa Corporation in exploring an ancient Ontothon temple. They were selected, supposedly due to Eno's enthusiasm for artifacts and ancient cultures, although Cere suspects it is the council's way of punishing them for their actions on Nameel.

Three days later, Eno and Cere arrive on Ontotho and are greeted by Dylanto Daa, the founder of the Daa Corporation. Dylanto praises the Jedi for their timely arrival and minimal luggage, as the corporation was about to dispatch a group to the Fylar region, the location of the temple. Dylanto explains that the situation is complicated because the Fylar region was the only region not to join the unified government, which in turn, joined the Republic. This means the temple is not within Republic territory. The group embarks in an armored caravan towards the temple, as Eno expresses concern about the potential reaction of the Fylar region's inhabitants to the approaching caravan.

Shortly into their journey, deep within the Fylar Forest, the caravan is startled by a loud noise nearby. Cere swiftly leaps out and heads towards the source, with Eno following after instructing the others in the caravan to remain in place. Eno catches up to his apprentice, and Cere explains that she sensed a commotion that then faded. Eno advises Cere to reach out and sense that the Force isn't blocked or faded, but rather overwhelming in the area. Eno demonstrates to Cere how to utilize nature to their advantage, similar to how they use the Force, and the path is revealed as Cere runs off again with Eno following.

Cere focuses and discovers a body lying on the ground. She soon hears voices emanating from an unknown location. Eno calls out to Cere, and she returns to her master. Cere recounts her encounter and the voices she heard, but Eno insists that they both remain with the caravan to fulfill their assignment. An explosion interrupts the Jedi Master and separates him from his apprentice. Surrounded by flames, Cere cries out to her master but is quickly knocked unconscious.
