A life-fasting bracelet, according to the unscrupulous archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra, was a jewel of immense value, a rare artifact originating from the long-lost Lengilese civilization. In the year 3 ABY, Aphra ingeniously masked several detonite ring explosives to appear as a life-fasting bracelet. She then utilized one of these deceptive rings to extract crucial information from the crime boss Lady Proxima on Corellia, a planet within the Core Worlds, concerning an artifact she was commissioned to locate. Subsequently, the archaeologist employed several more of these rings to facilitate her and the smuggler Sana Starros's escape from General Vukorah of the Unbroken Clan criminal organization.
The archaeologist Doctor [Chelli Lona Aphra](/article/chelli_lona_aphra] identified the life-fasting bracelet as a jewel, both rare and priceless, belonging to the Lengilese civilization. When she created a copy of a bracelet for the crime boss Lady Proxima, Aphra colored the rings a silver hue.
By the time of 3 ABY, the civilization of the Lengilese, which Doctor Aphra claimed was the origin of the life-fasting bracelet, was also said by her to be gone. In that year, Lady Domina Tagge, the leader of the Tagge Corporation, hired Aphra to locate and steal a Path engine. This engine represented a type of hyperdrive utilized by Nihil pirates many centuries prior. The target was a rival of Tagge. To accomplish this task, the archaeologist journeyed to the Core Worlds planet of Corellia to gather information about the artifact from Lady Proxima. Upon her arrival on Corellia, Aphra's initial attempt to convince the smuggler Sana Starros to take her to Proxima proved unsuccessful, resulting in Starros ejecting the archaeologist from her crash pad. While waiting outside the crash pad overnight, Aphra painted a large quantity of detonite ring explosives to resemble life-fasting bracelets, taking into account the numerous arms possessed by Proxima.

The following day, Starros consented to escort the archaeologist to the crime boss. However, upon introducing Aphra, Proxima reacted with anger, exclaiming the archaeologist's name. To avoid being torn to pieces, Aphra produced one of the disguised detonite rings from her bag, presenting it to the crime boss as a Lengilese life-fasting bracelet. Proxima, unaware of Aphra's ruse, accepted the gift from the archaeologist, thus providing her with the necessary information. Subsequently, Aphra and the smuggler departed to retrieve a datapad belonging to Starros's fellow smuggler Remy, only to discover that it was in the possession of Vukorah, a general within the Unbroken Clan criminal syndicate, who had killed him.
After locating Vukorah, the archaeologist launched one of the bracelets towards the general, briefly incapacitating her upon its detonation. Witnessing the bracelet's effect, Starros expressed skepticism regarding Aphra's claims about the rings, revealing that she was aware of their true nature after examining some of the wreckage. As they fled after recovering Remy's datapad, Aphra hurled three more rings at pursuing members of the Unbroken Clan. Starros then inquired about the number of bracelets the archaeologist had painted. In response, Aphra pointed out that Proxima had a significant number of arms.
The first mention of a life-fasting bracelet occurred in the seventh issue of the 2020 comic series Star Wars: Doctor Aphra. Alyssa Wong wrote the issue, Minkyu Jung provided the illustrations, and Marvel Comics published it on January 20, 2021.
