Maramis was a Togruta serving as the Togruta guard's captain under Regasa Elarec Yovet. He journeyed with the regasa and her guard to the Republic Fair held on the planet of Valo. When Nihil raiders launched an attack on the fair, Maramis stepped up to help the survivors.
Leading up to the opening of the Valo Republic Fair, Maramis joined Elarec Yovet on her voyage from her home planet, Shili, to Lonisa City on Valo. The regasa was accompanied by Maramis and other members of the Togruta Guard. Maramis carried a kiavene, a long pike with barbed edges and disintegration abilities, and wore a long tunic and a face mask. Throughout the fair's events, Maramis and the Togruta Guard stayed close to Yovet as she remained with Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh's group.
When Nihil marauders initiated their attack on the Valo Republic Fair, Maramis and Yovet were with Soh, Norel Quo, Matari, Voru, Madam Conserra, and Jedi Master Stellan Gios inside the opera house. Despite the great danger, Yovet instructed all her guards, except for Maramis, to assist the wounded, much to Maramis's dismay. Gios suggested that the group should go to the Valo Jedi Temple, explaining that the vaults beneath the temple would offer safety.
As the group began their journey to the Jedi temple, they found themselves trapped within the Nihil war cloud. To ensure the group's safety, Gios instructed everyone to gather closely so he could use the Force to clear the toxic gas from the air around them. As the journey continued, Maramis noticed an experimental walker that was on display at the fair. The walker and its platform appeared to be above the war cloud, which would allow the group to reach the temple safely. Using the echolocation abilities of his montrals, Maramis assisted Gios in guiding the group toward the walker.
Once the group finally reached the walker, they began ascending the stairway to reach the platform. While the group hurried up the stairs, a group of Nihil attackers ambushed them. Gios, Maramis, Matari, and Voru prepared to defend the group. Maramis and the targons launched their attack while Gios remained behind to defend the walker. During a battle between Gios and a Trandoshan Nihil member, the walker's stairway collapsed. Maramis, Matari, and Voru soon returned to the walker, having successfully defended it for the time being. Using the shield from the Trandoshan, Gios and Maramis fashioned a makeshift gurney for Quo, who was injured when the stairway fell. Gios then used the Force to lift the gurney up to the walker. Maramis then assisted Gios in righting the stairway and climbing to the platform. Another group of Nihil marauders began attacking the group, with Maramis taking the lead in repelling them. Once Maramis, the last of the group, reached the top of the stairway, Gios used the Force to push the stairway to the ground.
Soh began to operate the walker, setting a course for the Jedi temple. Eventually, the group aboard the walker escaped Fair Park and arrived at the Unity Arc. Just as they reached the arch, Jedi Master Mikkel Sutmani's Vector crashed into a café on the streets below - brought down by a Nihil marauder. The café then collapsed, trapping and injuring dozens of survivors who were using the building as shelter. Following Yovet and Soh's instructions, the group disembarked the walker to help the survivors. Gios and Maramis defended the group from Nihil attackers as they cared for the injured.
When Tempest Runner Pan Eyta started bombing Lonisa City, Gios instructed Maramis to escort the rest of the group back to the walker and ensure their safety while Gios defended the injured. Maramis was ready to defend both Yovet and Soh from Lourna Dee, who attempted to climb the walker after bypassing Gios. Fortunately, Jedi Master Elzar Mann prevented Dee from reaching the walker but was unable to prevent the bomb that brought down the walker and seriously injured Soh. As the Nihil attack concluded, Maramis and the rest of the Togruta guard followed Yovet's lead and assisted the wounded. Once Togruta reinforcements arrived on Valo, Maramis, Yovet, and the rest of the Togruta guard returned to Shili. Despite the immense danger Maramis and Yovet faced, Maramis expressed his admiration for the Republic and the Jedi – especially Gios, whom Maramis fought alongside for most of the attack.
Maramis' montrals gave him a heightened sense of direction and danger. During the Valo Republic Fair attack, Maramis was able to determine direction when others were unable to due to the Nihil's war cloud. His montrals also allowed him to sense approaching danger, as he did when Nihil marauders attempted to ambush the walker he was defending. Maramis was also highly skilled with his kiavene, using it to defeat dozens of Nihil single-handedly.
Maramis was fiercely protective, especially of Elarec Yovet, to whom he had pledged his life to protect. He prioritized the lives of those he was protecting above his own and would do whatever it took to ensure their safety – even if it meant leaving others behind. Maramis also possessed a talent for battle tactics, identifying the best route to the Valo Jedi temple before even Jedi Master Gios.
Maramis made an appearance in the novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, authored by Cavan Scott and released in 2021.
