Markus Gilder, an elite councilor of the Chirq Council, was a female Zabrak who resided on Corellia during the Galactic Civil War era.
Following the Battle of Yavin, Markus Gilder became one of the nine elite councilors heading up the criminal syndicate known as the Chirq Council. The other eight leaders were Zuld Mar-Shayal, Braganti Hooge, Koran Lassk, Janos Zarbo, Mathazar Zayet, Rallyn Secura, Crale Forte and Atlan Dubreas. Gilder operated from the Second Elite Council Bunker, situated near the city of Doaba Guerfel.
In 1 ABY, the Corellian Security Force commenced an investigation of the Chirq Council due to a surge in ryll smuggling on Corellia. Captain Vitala Baize made the decision to infiltrate the criminal organization by using a CorSec agent who would assume the identity of Trins Evnar, a Chirq Council member in Doaba Guerfel. After the CorSec agent eliminated Evnar, as well as all other Chirq Council criminals who had known him, he successfully impersonated Trins Evnar and approached the underboss Jzoro Quanera, thereby achieving infiltration. The CorSec then extracted the identities of the nine elite councilors, as well as the locations of their secret bases, from Jzoro Quanera's database. The CorSec then launched an assault on both the First and Second Elite Council Bunkers, killing all of the elite councilors during the attack. With the demise of Markus Gilder and the other elite councilors, the Chirq Council was fragmented.
Markus Gilder appeared as a non-player character in Star Wars Galaxies, the 2003 video game which was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. Markus Gilder was introduced to the game via the "Chapter 1: The Corellian Captives" update, which was released on June 8, 2006.
