Megalox space station

A space station was in orbit above the Megalox penal colony on the world of Megalox Beta, situated within the Expansion Region. To counteract the extreme gravitational forces of Megalox Beta, which would otherwise crush the inmates, the station projected a protective gravity field over the facility. Warden Luta was in command of the station, which sustained damage from Carrion Spike, the vessel piloted by First Order Agent Terex.

Description

The station's command center

The Megalox orbital station featured a hangar bay capable of accommodating both starfighters and shuttles. In addition, it housed a command center, and on Deck Twelve was located the primary security field generator. This generator was crucial as it produced a gravity field that protected the Megalox prison from the severe gravity of the planet Megalox Beta. The station's defenses consisted of numerous prison guards and a large security droid.

History

Megalox space station

The space station above Megalox served as the management hub for the Megalox prison located on the planet Megalox Beta. Warden Luta oversaw the prison's operations. Furthermore, the orbital installation generated a gravity field that acted as a shield, protecting the prison from the crushing gravity of Megalox Beta, which was ten times the standard level. In 34 ABY, Poe Dameron and his Black Squadron visited the station on a mission to interrogate Grakkus the Hutt regarding the whereabouts of the explorer Lor San Tekka. While the pilots were inside the prison, their droids, specifically BB-8, O-R10N, R2-HA, and R4, remained on the station, stationed in their T-70 X-wing starfighters.

When negotiations with Grakkus were complicated by the presence of First Order Agent Terex, Poe instructed the droids to deactivate the station's main security field generator. After subduing several guards, they gained access to the field generator on Deck Twelve. The prison's security forces deployed a security droid, which destroyed 0-R10N. After a struggle, BB-8 succeeded in disabling the security droid. Subsequently, the other droids deactivated the shield generator, enabling Black Squadron to extract Grakkus. Poe then brokered an agreement allowing his squadron and Grakkus to depart the prison in exchange for relinquishing control of the prison back to Luta.

After Black Squadron and Grakkus reunited with the droids in the hangar, they departed in their X-wings and a shuttle. BB-8 then gave control of the prison back to Warden Luta. However, a vengeful Grakkus, aboard his ship Carrion Spike, launched an assault on the prison, permanently disabling the gravity field. As Luta ordered shuttles to evacuate the prisoners, Terex attacked their shuttles. Black Squadron then reversed course and drove the Carrion Spike away, allowing the prison authorities to proceed with the evacuation.
