Milk Stand

The Milk Stand, a compact yet highly frequented merchant kiosk, was situated along Merchant Row within Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu. Bubo Wamba from Bubo Wamba Family Farms established this stall after he was dispatched by his family from the planet Tatooine to manage a bantha farm on Batuu. The kiosk dispensed blue milk procured from Wamba's farm and green milk sourced from Ahch-To, in addition to a selection of breakfast items.

Description

Location

A milk delivery from a local farm

Nestled in an often-overlooked section of Merchant Row within Black Spire Outpost on the planet Batuu, the Milk Stand presented itself as a diminutive and uniquely designed kiosk. It stood across from the First Order Cargo area, a short distance from Oga's Cantina. The structure comprised a singular counter, providing three service points for the staff. A cooling unit behind the counter maintained the beverages at optimal serving temperatures.

A vibrant canopy stretched over the counter, supported by a pair of metal uprights that formed the stall's facade, with an assortment of blue and green milk containers suspended beneath the awning. Metal barriers delineated a queuing area between the posts, guiding patrons to the counter, while additional milk containers were positioned on either side. A substantial milking apparatus was prominently displayed in front of the stall.

The kiosk's primary focus was dairy-based drinks, offering chilled blue milk and green milk, available in either a translucent cup showcasing the distinctive color, or in a Bubo Wamba Family Farms Novelty Drink Vessel. Alcoholic variations of both milks, known as the Blue Milk Cooler and the Green Milk Cooler, were also on offer, along with the Toydaria Swirl beverage and bottled Dasani water.

During the morning hours, the stand featured a breakfast menu that included Saka farm egg bites, green milk bread pudding, Wamba yogurt cups, and coffee. Cream, wooden mixing sticks, and an assortment of sugars were provided for coffee customization. While Bubo Wamba Family Farms held exclusive rights to blue milk within Black Spire Outpost, the Milk Stand also received blue milk from the Saka Homestead. The green milk sold, however, was imported from the planet Ahch-To, produced by the indigenous thala-sirens.

History

Several years prior to the First Order's occupation of Batuu in 34 ABY, Bubo Wamba Family Farms expanded its operations from its humble beginnings on the desert planet Tatooine to establish a bantha farm near Black Spire Outpost. Bubo Wamba, a young dairy farmer representing the fourth generation of his family, was dispatched by his parents to oversee the farm. Shortly after arriving on Batuu, he inaugurated the Milk Stand in the marketplace to vend the farm's blue milk, alongside imported green milk.

Wamba devoted much of his time to tending his banthas on the farm, yet he eagerly seized any opportunity to socialize and preferred the bustling marketplace to the solitude of his homestead. He traveled daily from the farm on his landspeeder, parking it at Black Spire Station elsewhere in the outpost. He employed local Batuu residents to assist in running the stand, who enthusiastically shared the available beverages with both locals and visiting travelers.

During the First Order's occupation of Batuu, a contingent of First Order stormtroopers pursued the Clawdite criminal Remex Io through Merchant Row, resulting in him dashing through the Milk Stand in front of waiting customers. The stall's staff and patrons quickly moved aside to avoid the Clawdite, with one Zeltron patron expressing his displeasure. The stormtroopers then opened fire on Io, missing him but striking the Zeltron in the chest. In 34 ABY, the local farmer Julen Rakab briefly contemplated investing in the Milk Stand after depleting his milk supply, but quickly dismissed the idea due to the unpleasant odor of banthas.

Behind the scenes

Concept art of the stand

The Milk Stand was initially presented within Star Wars canon as a component of the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge attraction at Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios. In these locations, the Milk Stand functions as an actual beverage kiosk, offering park visitors the option to purchase a glass of two semi-frozen, plant-based drinks, each formulated from a combination of coconut and rice milks, among other ingredients. While the park's established backstory asserts that the stand's milk is sourced from nearby bantha farms, there are no operational farm-based attractions within the park itself.
