Nussi, existing during the Imperial Era, was a rancor. Wollina, a Patrolian, eventually obtained her for his zoo situated on the Outer Rim planet of Hon-Tallos. This acquisition followed an agreement with Deva Lompop, a Shani bounty hunter, stipulating that the rancor would not be bred. However, due to his need for money to support his zoo, Wollina later violated this agreement with Lompop and initiated Nussi's breeding.
Around 3 ABY, Lompop learned of the Patrolian's breach of contract and conceived a plan to free the rancor, enlisting the assistance of Sana Starros, a bounty hunter, and the Genetian Collective syndicate. Despite Wollina's attempts to thwart the Shani and Starros, the pair successfully rescued Nussi from the zoo.
During the Imperial Era, Nussi was a rancor. By approximately 3 ABY, she came into the possession of Wollina, a Patrolian criminal syndicate leader, for his zoo, known as Wild Wollina's Animal Adventures, located on the Outer Rim planet of Hon-Tallos. This was part of a deal he struck with Deva Lompop, a Shani bounty hunter, which forbade Wollina from breeding Nussi. Eventually, in order to cover the costs of his zoo, which he claimed were substantial, the Patrolian disregarded his agreement with Lompop and commenced breeding Nussi. Around 3 ABY, Lompop discovered Wollina's actions, and, due to her aversion to rancor breeding, she devised a scheme to liberate Nussi from him. To achieve this, she recruited Sana Starros, a human bounty hunter, and members of the Genetian Collective syndicate, who also had plans to liberate the entire zoo.

Upon their arrival at the zoo, Lompop and Starros proceeded towards the breeding pens. Reaching their destination, the Shani instructed the human to douse herself in juvenile rancor urine to convince Nussi that she was her cub. Initially reluctant, Starros ultimately complied and poured the urine over herself. When Lompop opened the rancor's enclosure, Nussi roared and advanced towards the human, detecting her scent. After recognizing her as her cub, Nussi licked Starros' face, which the human found unpleasant. Starros pointed out that Lompop had not covered herself in urine and inquired why the rancor was not attempting to eat her, to which the Shani replied that rancors could identify a predator. The human then mounted the rancor's back just as Wollina arrived to stop them, informing Lompop that she could not take Nussi. The Shani retorted that their contract was nullified due to his breeding of the rancor, and she instructed Starros to lead Nussi to the zoo's exit while she dealt with the Patrolian.
As Starros and Nussi made their way to the exit, they were pursued by Marl Jibs, a human, on a speeder bike. Recalling that she was riding a rancor, Starros directed Nussi to attack Jibs, dislodging him from the speeder before the pair departed. Upon their arrival, Starros dismounted and asked Lompop, who had handled Wollina, about the future of the rancor. In response, the Shani stated that she had arranged transportation for Nussi. Starros expressed her gratitude to Nussi by touching her nose, and the rancor entered a cage.
